Since high school, Dennis lived a second life. He found himself dressing up in female clothing in secret and slowly gravitating towards feminine hobbies at a young age. Growing up in a strict Southern home, Dennis never told his parents about his true feelings and kept these emotions suppressed while under their roof. When he went to college, he decided to live life as a girl after his roommate walked in on him wearing a dress and convinced Dennis to live life how he wanted to.

It had been a few years since Dennis had been back in town to see his parents, often busy with school and work. While he used those excuses frequently not to see them, believing they’d be ashamed of who he turned into, Dennis limited contact with his family. One afternoon, Dennis received a Memorial Day barbecue invitation at his parent's house. Taking a deep breath, he accepted. They’d never met Denise or seen his new feminine body, but Dennis knew he had to stop keeping them in the dark. Either they’d disown Dennis, and he’d live life knowing he tried, or they’d accept him, and he could live his life the way Dennis wanted to with his family’s love.

Dennis slipped on his cutest blue sundress the morning of the barbecue and drove home, his heart beating the whole way. Finally arriving at the house, he took a deep breath as he rang the doorbell, his mother answering with a shocked, “Oh my God!”
