nope I only make a round, then I draw the v shape of the eyebrows and eyes then I go on, it's easyer to make the nose that way I think

Yeah, I only use circles now to try and figure out proportions. That tutorial is so out of date and its only been a few weeks

use circle for the head and the torax size then all I do after is drawing ^^ but but.... the best you can ever do to help yourself is to search for real life pose from animals, not to copy, but keep it open so you can stylise the pose, just having it open helps alot ^^ I use alway 4-5 picture of real lions, some for the pose, some other for other part of the body reference and some otheres are for the face and expression ^^
