Description
I was bored today when I got home and decided to look up pictures of Footloose, because why not? So I found one, which I can't find anymore, and thought, you know what? I'm drawing Viza in that. Yeah. Viza's not a dancer so it turned into a picture of him out exploring.
The half moon shone brightly in the night sky, illuminating the quiet land below in a silvery glow. Cattle and pigs and sheep dozed in their pastures on the eastern side of the palace grounds, occasionally squealing their squeals or making whatever noises animals such as them did make, as long as an alert was not sounded by some stupid oinking pig, then everything would be fine. Two bare feet shuffled through the straw that littered the ground after a gentle thud that brought the feet from being perched in the tangle of vines that had ran up a wall to a window in the side of the castle, the shuffling steady until nothing but the animals made their noises. The feet stopped for a bit, as if their owner was surveying the lit courtyard that he had dropped into. All the guards were gone this time of night, they knew the prince well enough to know when to stay away from the courtyard which his room three floors up opened up to. The last time one had been patrolling the area, they had caught the prince with a knight in training, doing unspeakable things. That guard had been replaced, and news had spread that their prince would likely not continue on the line when he took throne. However they did not dare come around anymore, not after what had happened to that guard.
Soon the courtyard was out of sight, small padding sounds of feet against stone hardly echoing about the empty pathway that passed the paddocks, then once clear of the dung smelling horses the sounds faded to the right, to the lower class cottages that held the farm animals within range. The feet were nimble, walking fast as if the mere soil burned the heels. He would have gone through the main courtyard to the gates that provided passage to the main road that led throughout the rest of the kingdom, however that way was filled with too many obstacles- angry peasants, that orphan girl Kiwa who roamed about the same times he did, that older boy Abasi, who had three years more to his own seventeen. He couldn't face Kiwa right now, not with how her stomach grew. And Abasi, he just didn't like the fellow. As far as he was concerned the man was just a waste of air. This way was more open, a road to bring in the goods rather than for walking. No one came at night, and so the road was clear.
Heterochromatic eyes flashed underneath the sweeping of golden hair, looking up to the lowering moon. The sky was getting lighter, but just barely... he needed to hurry, before everyone awoke.
The countryside was perhaps the prince's favorite part of the kingdom, on the western side where the land thrived. Crops grew and hardly any animal stench wafted in these areas. As he ran over the golden hills the prince felt a rush of freedom with the breeze that pushed on his back, as if aiding him in escaping the life of the castle. Grass grew up to his waist, the prince loved the feeling of his bare feet flying over the cool soil with every step further he took from the palace. The young royal leapt over a barrier of bush when he came across the familiar blockade that separated one pasture from another, these fields empty because he had bought out the land for his own pleasure and had refused to cultivate it. Drove the queen insane, as it was the richest lands, but alas his mother had let him do as he pleased. Perhaps she had seen use for having uncultivated fields, like a meeting place or later expansion.
The golden haired prince ascended the first of many hills in his land, chest heaving from the running he had done, yet he was not tired. As the sun rose up completely the simply clothed noble looked over his shoulder and smiled, a true, joyful smile and exclaimed to the morning sky, "I won! But, don't feel so bad, perhaps you will beat me tomorrow." His laugh rolled over the gorgeous green and golden hills as he walked forward, pleased with himself for arriving at his homestead before the sun had reached the highest tower in the castle. To walk to where he had been progressively building a house, nestled in the shade of two trees, from his room in the castle took well over two hours. But he had run it in just one.
Viza's chest swelled with pride the prince pulled up his loose shirt and rolled up his sleeves, walking proudly down the hill to the half built house, eager to continue construction on his home. There would be no princely lessons today, they wouldn't be able to find him if there had been any planned. The castle was so dull, nobles trotted here and there dealing with politics and war plans, and peasants slaved away. When he passed by, commoners dropped to their knees and waited for him to pass before raising their heads. It was all nice, but too much at times. Here, in this place that he would pour all the love no one knew he had, he would build a getaway from dressing in his best everyday and being formal and political. With another smile, the prince set to work setting up the cradle in the largest chamber, tying a mobile crafted by himself to the rail.
The boy stared at the dancing toy that slowly rotated in the air above the crib and gave a content sigh, pleased with his work before disappearing out of the chamber to continue work in the soft sun light on the outer walls, listening to the romantic birdsong and whistling wind.
~~~
Yay storytime! I pictured Viza getting up every morning before everyone woke to go build this house for himself and the baby that he knows he is going to be held responsible for. I feel like, as a human, his joy would come around this time in his life when he becomes independent enough to leave the castle walls completely and buy his own land, presumably after quarreling with his mother about why he would rather stay out there then in the castle, and start work on it. He would be very proud of that land. But as he is still prince and a minor, the deal he would have struck with his mother would allow him to own and build on the land as long as he returned every night to at least sleep.
That's all I have to say lol. Maybe I'll add on when its not one in the morning.
I love the human world you created. If/when I get around to humanized Adilah, would you mind if I built upon that world?
Thank you! And yes, go right ahead. I think I'm going to write and draw more about the human world too, make drawings about what happened before and after this and draw parallels in it. I'll get to work on that right after a shower actually.
