I sometimes nerd up and recently I thought again about a Hulk redesign based on a conversation with
I liked the idea of how Thor handled his lightning in Ragnarok without his hammer and I thought Hulk could wield his gamma energy in a similar manner. The only addition to his design look are his Banner created gamma gems embedded in the back of his hands that lets him focus the energy as he wishes. The further idea is that like in Avengers animated series he comes to an agreement with the Hulk and they share roles as heroes. Banner undergoes physical training with Captain America and other Avengers and puts on about 25lbs of muscle which has an effect on Hulk when Banner transforms making Hulk a bit more agile. Of course all that Banner learns is just subconscious for the Hulk. I wanted to add that when he leaps he can manipulate the energy to leap again in midair to change direction and to have softer landings. Β

The look is fun. I still maintain that getting to far away from the 'Original Brick Build' starts to make him less 'Hulk' like (point being he doesn't need energy absorption/projection stuff cause he's strong enough to overcome it with raw strength - ie shockwaves and leaping being 'good enough') but I do get the idea more solidly now and I do really like the look. And I can get behind 'Gamma Charged' punches and dashes and such cause..well..Marvel vs Capcom.Β Hard to fuss about GAMMA CHARGE and GAMMA CRUSH!

I think of this idea as another incarnation. Professor Hulk (Merged Hulk retconned) was what happened when Banner and Hulks explored their feelings for each other. If Banner and Hulk explored their powers this is a logical idea that could result based on previous canon events. I could very well make the argument that the Hulk is actually a shape-shifter because of all the extra mass and head deformity that takes place, not to mention how his body actually goes through the process of physically growing and shrinking while changing, but that's no longer the Hulk.
I don't think I got away from his look at all. I just added gems to his hands and that is not a Banner smart Hulk. Thor was able to strike multiple targets with his lightning in Ragnarok and I thought it would be cool if Hulk could do that too. It's really not that big of a deal what I added, I think it gives the writers the ability to explain better the powers he already has. He's supposed to have an innate sense of his surroundings so he could level a city without hurting anyone. That's been said in canon. This way he has some kind of kinetic gamma vision. Someone tries to steal his gamma power, there's now a visual of it, where before he would just shrink or something. Even with training Banner, if he put on 20lbs of muscle, it wouldn't change the Hulks appearance much, but the training itself makes it easier to explain more complex ideas the Hulk has when he fights, so squaring off against Juggernaut, for example would not have him pitting his strength against that unstoppable force and always apply angles to his attacks. A lot of things would be modified, but not changed.

I believeΒ Marvel already has an explanation for where the different mass comes from, not just for him, but for size shifters and such. It's just an 'extra dimensional source' (their words, lol.) tapped into when they do that.Β
Hulk has evolved into different incarnations. But opinions are gonna vary on what that means. That's a matter of personal preference. But typically their powers remain the same which falls into 'Hulk powers'. His innate power is greater then such 'tricks'.Β At the same time I like the idea of a Hulk that enhances his attacks with Gamma energy for an extra punch or exokisuib or what have you. So I can see where you're coming from.Β

Yes, this Hulk doesn't gain extra powers from this incarnation, it's the gems that Banner made that give him the extra. If the gems are interfered with or destroyed, then it's base Hulk again. Think of them like Namor's wings. They are nanotech that can regrow or reboot. Once again I said I didn't change him. All the ideas come from either Hulk canon or Marvel canon. The artificial gamma gem comes from what Vision has in the comics, the Solar gem, not the Soul gem. Wonder Man used to have jet packs that ran on his own ionic energy. The biggest change is Banner.
Yes, that's what I was saying about him being a shape shifter, unlike how Thor used to go from Don Blake to Thor in a magic flash, Hulk like other shifters grab mass from some extradimensional source. There's no reason why he has to always change into what we know to be the Hulk. Another gamma being showed us, Madman. But I don't want the Hulk to be a shape shifter. There's already too many green ones. lol

You know. Not only should you be drawing for Marvel. Maybe you should be writing for them too. At the least you couldn't do worse than most of the stuff they do right now.

Well, Hulk was coherent before they existed, but he did stay in flux as to his state and incarnation. Check him in Comet Man issues way back.
