I'm totally amazed about how you can go all crazy with different details, without making it look too messy. I love this, and those tigers are just amazing. TwT

He look like my boyfriend, when he lounge in evening!
I have question... You draw people from a photo or it's talent?
Because I have so many problems with anatomy, and don't know what do...
And I really love your artworks, also dream to draw as you!

haha, lucky you to have such a lovely boyfriend.
My work is talent. I use photgraphic reference. These subjects are for the most part real people that have touched my life. They pose for me and I draw from looking at and draw over photographic reference. No case is the same and everytime I must use my observation skills to draw anatomy corectly. You can never trust a photo, they distort life. I never trace. So yes I do draw much of my work. And yes I do use photos. And yes I do paint it from my talent.
As far as helping you with anatomy my first sugestion is to draw from life and learn to abstract the form and see it as 3d not 2d. Secondly study the antomy in both photos and drawings- artists exagerate insertion points to make muscles seem real. Its important to show form. Draw everything always even if its covered up or goes off the page in an illustration. It will help you get things in proportion. Always look at something real to make something up. You don't ahve to copy a pose but understand how the figure works and use observation equal to imagination. Balance of this is mandatory to drawing anything. (don't draw from famous people or famous poses unless the work is suposed to be the famous person. Always use things close to you that are personal.) I hope this helps. Ask me anything, more specific questions would help me to teach you more.

Thanks for the answer. I've understood all that you've written, and maybe more... It's very good advice.
But now I think my problem not anatomy: ) I this person who can do something beautiful, but sooo lazy. When I'll sit down to draw, I constantly hurry up or I don't have not enough patience to finish picture. Result - my gallery (for kids).
This very nice, that you can teach me or help me, it is more than gold. Because not every day someone help you.
And one more a question! How many time do you need, to draw one picture (like a "Bolero" or "Habibi")?

Hullabaloo2 In reply to VanillaGio [2007-04-24 10:36:54 +0000 UTC]
They take a very very long time. Bolero took 50-100 hours. Habibi took 40. Most of my work takes 40 hours, a full weeks worth.

Ya know what caught my eye first? Ok, second! (Just after the hot naked guy!) The lighting on the background objects, especially the lighting on the pottery. There's something so real and interesting about it, especially with the graduated yet monochrome color of the far background. I just really like the way you used the lighting in this. Lovely!

Thanks, thats interesting I usually am weak on lighting since I paint everything seperate instead of all at once.

great colors and design (as always.) it looks very exotic but without using the (usual) vibrant-warm colors. i like it.
would there be any copy? i wonder how it would look like with type and all (note: just don't make it too busy...)

i agree. this spread has so many details in it. i think adding another design element would compete for attention and ruin the page. so does the illustration have anything to do with the music? i guess i just have to wait and see the final piece.
