another one of my origin concepts from Wolverine and the X-men. like my other designs, my take on designing these characters was to go back to each characters original appearance as much as i could.with rogue that means going back to when she was a baddie, back in Avengers annual #10. i REALLY loved this design, too bad it didn't fly with the bosses.

Why is the white part of her hair translucent in the show? That always bothered me....

it's something i wanted to try out so we wouldn't have to worry about her hair obstructing her face....doing it as a solid object can be harder to animate. you have to remember this is TV animation. the budgets are small....so you're always looking for ways to do things economically that still looks good.
however, given a lot of factors, this didn't alway look right on screen. as a matter of fact very little of what i did that makes these designs unique showed up in the final animation.

Ah I figured it wasn't just to look cool. Interesting. I see why you did it, but it always bothered me throughout the show. I was watching an episode w/ my dad one night and he was like, "Dude, why can I see through her hair?". So it kinda came out funky at some moments....but overall you did a great job on her.

Shame the show was cancelled. This would've made a great "futuristic Rogue" design.

I wish they had picked this design! It is fantastic! And I always loved Rouge being the real Rouge, not the movie version.... So you bringing her back to bad is just amazing to me! Also a HUGE fan of the show! I hug you now! XD

well, to be clear, it was the writers/producers who wanted to get her back to being "bad".....i just wanted her to look that way....the way she did when she was a villain and not just another busty, Marvel heroine. glad you like it and glad you're a fan of the show ....now, i hug you back!

I agree completely, she had so much personality to begun with and then she just turned into a southern Jean after awhile, thankfully she still has some edge to her, but I think I would most definitely preferred her the other way, and this outfit is SO much better then the green themed ones, this ROCKS! And I mean even if they didn't want her bad they still should have put her in this! It is too great to ignore! Yay! Hugs! XD

Got another question for you. It seemed to me that Wolverine and the X-Men picked up kind of where X-Men Evolution left off (maybe with a few years gap). Is that what the "bosses" wanted from the beginning?

i do too. when i strated to design her i was told that she was going to be a lot darker....so i think edgy is good.
