Description
This is the third and last of my autumn of 2011 trilogy of acrylic paintings for the IB art class. This is a way of expressing my cosmopolitanism and my very wide cultural influences, given I live in Mexico. I believe nationalism can only lead to hatred between countries, and it pisses me off when, for example, US citizens say "God bless America" like if it was the only country God was watching over. It also destroys me a little bit on the inside knowing that I come from such interesting and full of culture ancestors, just to know that the culture of my country in actuality is to be ashamed of. Anyways, that's what I wanted to express in this painting.I relate to my own culture by portraying the only mexican dragon: Quetzalcóatl. I also relate to the japanese and medieval europe. There's a lot of color symbolism in all the trilogy, I just got into that, and there's going to be in all of my next paintings.
