Surprisingly enough, only 5 yards of material, used very wisely. (Luckily, there was no grainline on the fabric!)

I used a pattern, then modified it to fit the needs of the coat. Costume patterns based on the Matrix (they have patterns for both men and women) work very well as a base.

I do too! I love modifying commercial patterns, too, because it means that I don't have to draft my own patterns from scratch.

I will definitely let you know if I am wearing Axel to a convention you are attending. You make an adorable Roxas! Sadly enough, I only wore it to AAC and Halloween in Salem thus far and it is my most popular costume on Deviantart. XD
