how often do you 3D Print stuff? I have a couple of things that I have printed as well. I still need to upload them to deviant.

So far,I only ordered this one and a previous version of this one. Β Too expensive to go crazy with itt.
At least for now...

understandable. I was in a drafting class last year and they had a 3d printer in the class.
I printed all sorts of stuff and there was no lab fees. $30,000 printer...

Yeah, it was a great experience, I do not have quite the skill that you have in sculpting, but I did manage to design a functioning iPhone case, a hand with functioning joints, some chess pieces, and a couple of other things.

that is awesome. For your information,I have no idea how to make a functional Iphone case.
Β I would need to make measurements and few tests before I make it. I would probably go broke in the proces.
You did very well I think!
Dont stop.Β

Later I will be posting pictures of it, if you would like to see it, just check out my profile.
For the measurements I was sure that I was going to screw up, but then I went to the website for Apple and they have all of the phone's schematics and measurements already on their site! I was so excited that I didn't have to make a lot of cases.
For the amount of material used it probably cost like 3-5 dollars. Only 1mm thick

Sounds cool! Β Now you can design some cut-out motives on the back and sell them individually.... I have seen people do that on Etsy...

Yup! Trying to take enough classes to qualify me to get an engineering degree.
Gonna take all college classes my senior year of school.

Iggy-design In reply to MisterGriimm [2014-06-03 08:51:18 +0000 UTC]
I wish you best of luck man!
Although,it seams interesting that you need an amount of classes to qualify, rather than knowledge you aquire.Β
Would be cool to just pass a test for a subject you know allready, without taking classes.

MisterGriimm In reply to Iggy-design [2014-06-03 17:02:12 +0000 UTC]
Thanks!
There is something that the Universities have been discussing. They wanted to try something out, a person would pay for the credit for the class and just take a test so that they get the credit automatically, if they know everything and don't want to take the class again they can test through it and just pay a fee and get the credit automatically... really neat stuff.

I suppose it would be beside the point to ask what it is...

Iggy-design In reply to golem1 [2014-05-29 09:04:15 +0000 UTC]
No,not at all,I imagined it as a futuristic flying space ship on a landing pad used for refueling and maintenance.
Here is the initial concepting video. Β Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfWby4β¦

Supercool.Β Β
As a space ship this is much more believable than the fantasies I see so many of, derived from images people see in Star Wars etc.

thank you,I am glad you think so! Β
I use no refference, maybe that is a reason. Also maybe it is a mistake, not sure yet...
π: 0 β©: 1
golem1 In reply to Iggy-design [2014-05-30 00:01:56 +0000 UTC]
Not a mistake, I don't think.Β Look at pictures of real satellites, probes.Β Β They don't look sexy, they just make sense.Β Β
π: 0 β©: 1
Iggy-design In reply to golem1 [2014-05-30 11:16:42 +0000 UTC]
Hmm yeah,maybe...possibly if you get too hung up on refference and what sells, you then lose your own expression language, thus completely missing the point of creation al together.
Thanx for pointing it out. Β

I sent them this video in facebook message, they replied immediately... suggested I should open a storre....
why did you send them a programming test? How does it relate to 3D printing?

I believe I've seen a 3D printer advertised online for $150.Β At that price it could quickly pay for itself, if it's any good.
π: 0 β©: 1
Iggy-design In reply to golem1 [2014-05-29 09:11:07 +0000 UTC]
Wow that is cheap. Although I am to scared to just buy it,I have heard that the technology is still a bit underdeveloped in terms of handling and precision.
Also,I have no idea how costly materials are ,or how many materials can each printer print.Β
But I do like the idea.I am very interested. I will need to explore and learn some need-to-know stuff forst, plus now Im pretty broke anyway...

Iggy-design In reply to DarksealStudios [2014-05-26 10:30:19 +0000 UTC]
Along with taxes and delivery, around 35 Euros, but It cost me double that because of the experiment order before this one.Β

DarksealStudios In reply to Iggy-design [2014-05-26 19:52:36 +0000 UTC]
that's not as bad as I thought (about $50usd each)....

Iggy-design In reply to DarksealStudios [2014-05-26 21:02:35 +0000 UTC]
In my terms it comes as expensive. But it is a joy having it.
Naturally,if you chose other materials it can go sky high...
