What exactly does the "multiply" tool do? I've seen it used, but I don't know what it does to the lineart.

ikr In reply to lohkk [2012-07-12 19:29:35 +0000 UTC]
'Multiply' is a blending mode used for layers. You can set any layer to Multiply mode in the layer menu C:, if you don't find the option I can send you a screenshot ^^

Ah! I know where it is, I just never knew what it did xD There are so many options that I don't know the purpose of.

Hehe, the best way to see how it works is to draw two overlapping circles of different colours (each one on a separate layer) and then change the upper layer blending mode to Multiply or whatever mode you want to see.

I believe when you go to colour in a picture, setting the lineart to multiply means you can safely colour in the areas you need to without worrying about the lines getting painted over
Hope this helps

IronNarwhal In reply to ??? [2012-06-30 06:34:58 +0000 UTC]
What do lock and overlay mean/do?
π: 0 β©: 1
ikr In reply to IronNarwhal [2012-06-30 17:58:46 +0000 UTC]
When you check the Opacity Lock option in the layer menu, transparent pixels will be locked, so you won't be able to colour them. For example, if you lock the lineart layer, everything that is not the lines will be locked (so if you paint over with a brush or any tool, only the lineart will be modified).
Overlay is a layer blending mode, like multiply or screen. It usually makes colours more vibrant, but you should see it by yourself. Make two layers and draw anything on them with different colours. Then set the upper layer mode to Overlay and see how it looks C:
