Description
"zerd-i nevbahar" means "yellow of the spring" in Ottoman, written with Latin letters... I tried to think of or find a piece of poetry that would just bind to this photograph, like its twin... I finally found it: "Nev bahar hüsnin ki ter-i tâze olsun tâ ebed" (by Mihri Hatun, a well know female poet of Ottoman era) - that is, with an a surely undeserving translation, "o spring, shall your beauty stay so young, forever" the photograph was taken last spring-summer and just staring at it makes me hopeful and joyous - in these dark, grey days of winter...

I don't know the name of the flower, or what kind of a flower it is - but we decided to call it "yellow of the spring" that is "zerd-i nevbahar" with a friend

"zerd-i nevbahar", yani "bahar(ın) sarısı"... aslında salt fotoğrafın adı değil bu; adını bilmediğimiz bu çiçeğe bir dost ile birlikte koyduğumuz ad bu fotoğraf bende şiddetli bir edebî his uyandırsa da bakar bakmaz - ve geçmiş baharı (ki fotoğrafı geçen bahar-yaz vakti çekmiştim) getirdi kısa, soğuk, gri kış günlerine... sonunda buldum bu fotoğrafın edebî yansımasını:

"Nev bahar hüsnin ki ter-i tâze olsun tâ ebed", Osmanlı şairi Mihri Hatun'un bu dizeleri bugünkü dilimizle yaklaşık şu anlama geliyor: "ilkbahar güzelliğin sonsuza kadar ter ü taze olsun"...
