Description Finally drew one of my characters who doesn't get enough attention - Journey the thylacine. He's shown here as an anthro for the first time ever, I guess. I wanted to see how he would look like in this form and I actually like the result

So, have Journey, who's standing in some... bookstore, maybe, and having a little conversation with somebody

Awesome work on this submission, I especially like the "grainy" effect you applied over the image to make it look almost like an older photograph.

As always the lines are very smooth and are nicely mixed between outer lines and more thin detail lines; there are also some areas where there are implied lines like at the clothes folds.

The colors are also really nice and taken together with the grainy effect make this image really stand out.

I get the impression that this character is Australian, given his color scheme and that necklace, I would guess perhaps he's either a dingo or a kangaroo, but I can't be sure.

The scene kinda makes me think of some kinda government office, maybe he's advising some tourists or perhaps he's being contracted as a guide or something; but that's all I can gather from the surroundings (mostly the booth and the old wooden furniture makes me think government, as corporate settings tend to be more sleek and lavish and residential settings have more personal items in the background).

Anyway, great job on this one.

Thank you very much!

When I drew this I wanted to make it look like a scene from an old movie or like an old photo. I don't know why, I just thought it would look interesting. So, I guess I could create this "old photo effect"

He's really australian and his species is a thylacine, which is also known as a tasmanian tiger - extinct marsupial animal from Tasmania.

I imagined the place more like a bookstore or a pub, or maybe a billiard club in some old building. But the idea with making him a guide is quite nice, though a hunter or an adventure seeker could suit him more, I think.

Thank you for the great thoughtful comment!

No problem.

You definitely have the old photo effect down I'd say.

Ah ok, I'm not familiar with that animal; probably because you just said their extinct... That's too bad. (At least I guessed right).

Well if your going to go for a pub you probably need a bar counter somewhere or some other people in the background. As for library/bookstore, most of the ones I see kinda have a central area with tables/chairs and bookshelves on the sides, but usually they aren't up against the wall like that, their in rows instead. But its your scene, I figure it's yours to imagine how you like (I'm mostly just trying to help).

No problem, one of these days I'll have to get you to review something of mine.

Honestly, I didn't think where actually I want to put Journey on this pic, so this place is totally random... I only imagined a bookstore because of books and a pub because of wooden things inside a room. ... I'm quite smart as you can see *sarcasm*
So, everybody can imagine this place as they like it

Well when you work with Flash, you often have a set of props that you end up reusing continually. So like if you want to make different rooms you just take those same props and recolor them or put in a different number, or put them in different positions.

So like: 2 chairs + table = regular dining room.
However: 10 chairs + 5 tables (exact same ones mind you) = restaurant. Ha ha ha ha

So yeah, I get it. Scene building can be difficult and sometimes you just need to establish a general idea and get that across rather than make it totally accurate. I suppose it's not for me to nitpick, I'm just trying to give you a good idea of what icons/props evoke what in a scene, if it were any other artists I probably wouldn't have said anything, I was mostly trying to help in my usual OCD way. ha ha.

Anyway, I'm sure people will imagine the scene as they like. I personally was never good at building a scene with only one image, but with Flash you don't really have to.

Good image regardless, definitely very high quality. As I said before the photo effect is also very impressive.

Oh, yes, I totally get it. I used to work with Flash, so I know what are you talking about. I used the same background all the time, just with small changes. It was a long time ago but I still remember it. Sweet memories...

Ah yes, well Flash can be a useful program for some things; but I get the feeling that it's not really made for really complex animations as it starts to lock up and freeze when you have a certain amount of moving parts and/or layers in one scene. I try to get around that by dividing everything into really small scenes or by compressing things into groups (not sure if that's making it better or worse though).

Eventually I'd like to make a really good animation featuring the anthro characters I've been building here on DA. However, it's still going to be a while before it's ready as there's always more work to do.

Anyway, I'll quite talking now. Thanks again so very much for your rendition of Vaergas, I really really like it.
