Hmm, personally I disagree with a.deviantart.net/avatars/s/a/s⦠" alt=" " title="satania"/>'s critique. Of course having said that, I know we all have different tastes in flames and what we think they should look like.
I think this is an amazing flame.
I love the colors. The orange in the spirals make me think of orange slices. That was the first thing I thought of when I saw this.
I am addicted to spirals to begin with so without a doubt this is an instant favorite to me.
This is what I call a "busy" flame. While I am not sure if this falls into the same category, I do like the negative space you have in this.It gives the eyes a place to rest and also adds to the overall flame.
As to your rendering settings, I think they are high. I have never rendered any flame that high and I personally like how this looks.
All in all I think it is a great flame.
I am going to rate this a bit on the lower than perfect rating, simply because so many flames look much the same. I know you know what I mean.

I do know exactly what you mean. I toss out a lot just because they look like someone else's. This one was different enough I was comfortable publishing it.
I appreciate everyones honesty and opinions.

The concept of this deviation is nice !
The spiral mix with bubble definitively worth it and here another exemple.
I think you could improve by diminuate the variations you use to made the spiral (it should fill the black space on the sides)
The gradient is really well choose, it's really smooth and those colors really fit well with the flame.
For my own, it's a really nice which could be improve a bit to be perfect, but simply try to fill the black spaces and give it more quality in the renders (I know it more long to render but it will definitively worth it on this dev) to erase the small blur clouds between and the bubbles and give it an awesome smooth aspect e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

It is a nice Apo render!!!! I'm not sure which critique to really agree with because what I see is the "dust" in it.... I think that if the dust was reduced it would be a most excellent render, but by the same token, I am aware that sometimes you loose the overall "feel" of the work if you try to tweek the dust out.... With fractals, you sometimes have to accept some defects to have the overall purpose or concept.....

I tried cleaning it up but lost some of what I liked, I did get a lot of good feed back though.

This is gorgeous. I love how Solid some people can make fractals.. I can only get a few to feel like they've got mass, most of them are airy, and light.
Excellent work, I love it.

What quality did you render this at? You seem to have a problem with grain

density 4000 oversample 4 filter radius .1

Oversample would not change the grain, and while your filter radius is pretty low (.4 is a good compromise between detail and aliasing) that wouldn't affect grain either.
What is the weight of your blur transform with respect to your spherical? If the blur is still .5 and the spherical is only 2, decreasing the blur may help.
For a plastic flame like this I would think that a quality/density of 4k would be high enough. It looks like 500 right now which is why I asked. Maybe 6k or 8k would clean it up.
