After a while of muffled crying,Midna's sobs finally started to muffle out.

"I'm okay now Link.."She says,pulling away from him.

"Are you sure?"Link asks.Midna nods and wipes away any remaining tears.

"Yes,it was stupid of me to cry like that."Midna stands up and walks a bit away from Link.

"I don't think it was."Link says,standing.He walks over to Midna and places a hand on her shoulder."It's okay to cry."Midna shook her head.

"No,we do not have time to cry.You have to get stronger Link.Nicolei isn't like any enemy we have faced together in the past."Midna says,turning to him.Link blinked.

"I know that but how am I going to do that?"Link asks.

"We'll find somebody to train you."Midna says.

"But Midna-"

"No buts!!"Midna ordered."Now call Epona!"Link sighed and put his fingers to his lips before blowing a soft tune.Soon after,Epona was galloping towards him and Midna.

"Let's go I guess."Link says,helping Midna upon Epona's back.

"Yes now come on!"Midna says,pulling Link up.

"Alright!Alright!"Link growled,hoping up.Soon the two were off and galloping away from the village.

~~~Time skip~~

The ride was quiet for a while,until Epona approached the Great Eldin bridge.Immediately,Link stopped her before crossing it.

"What's wrong?"Midna asks.Link stared at the bridge for a moment before looking back at Midna.

"It's nothing.."Link says,hopping off of Epona.He grabs Epona by the reins and begins leading her across the bridge.For some reason,Link found himself uneasy as he stepped across the bridge.He had been over it many times before but this time,the uneasy feeling was settled deeply.

"What is wrong with me?"Link mumbled to himself.

"Link,look!"Midna said,pointing ahead.Link looked up and saw someone on a dark misty like horse standing on the other side of the bridge.It was the Darknut again

"Oh come on!Every time I cross this stupid bridge!"Link fussed.Quickly,Link looked up at Midna."Midna,I need you to stay back here.I'll deal with this guy."Midna nodded and hopped odd Epona,letting Link jump on.Link gripped the dark Master sword tightly in his hands as he stared at the Darknut.

"Link,be careful."Midna says.Link looks down at her and nods.

"I'll try."Link rode to the bridge and stopped at the end of it,glaring at the Darknut who seemed to taunt him by motioning it's finger's towards them.With both their swords clasped tightly in their hands,the two charged at each other.

Link focused intensely on the Darknut as he approached it.He raised his sword up to strike the Darknut but as he did,something caught his eye.The Darknut this time was different.It was taller and more burly than Link.

Before Link knew what was happening,the Darknut raised it's sword and had slammed the handle of it's mighty sword into Link's side.The force of the blow caused Link to fly right off Epona's back and over the side of the bridge.

Midna could only watch on horror as Link began to fall towards the dark abyss below.Link couldn't even process what was happening himself.All he knew that he was no longer a hero.He was weak and could no longer defend even himself.

"Link!!!"Midna screamed as she watched her dear beloved friend disappear into the darkness.

Link closed his eyes as he fell into darkness.Was there nothing he could do now?Was this it?Soon,Link felt his body collide into something cold and wet that he sank into.He sunk deeply into the deep lake he had fallen into.He didn't breathe,nor did he try to.The darkness closed in around him as he went deeper.

~Link's P.O.V~~

Why?Why was this happening?Around me was darkness.I kept my eyes closed,I didn't wanna see it.I knew I couldn't breathe but it's not like I tried to or anything.I felt so weak,hopeless,lost.Is this what it feels like?To be defeated,knowing there is no chance to win against your enemy.Is this how all my enemies feel?

Have I finally reached the end of my life?Who cares if I did?I'm weak now.Useless.I couldn't even protect the ones I cared about.One by one they were taken down before me._________,Zelda,Thorn and now maybe even Midna.I had finally found an enemy who I cannot beat.What a useless hero I turned out to be.

I could feel myself sinking deeper into the darkness.Deeper into my own despair.I felt all my will to live just drain outta me.There was no longer a point.I lost.Nicolei had won.Darkness will soon spread out from the Twilight Realm and consume the light.There's nothing I can do about it.

"Link..Hero Link..awake.."A voice said that Link was unsure if he had even heard it.Slowly,Link opened his eyes,finding himself lying on a cloud.

"Where am I?"Link wondered as he sat up."Am I dead?"Link stood up and looked around until he came face to face with a skeleton in armor,causing him to jump a bit.

"Link..you have awoken.."The skeleton said.Link nodded.

"Y-Yes.."he says.The skeleton approached Link and stood in front of him.

"Have you given up?"it asks.Link's eyes widen a bit and he looks down.

"I..there's nothing I can do..I'm not strong enough..I can't face Nicolei.I can't even defeat one single Darknut."Link murmured.

"So you have given up.."The skeleton said,it's voice slightly coated in disappointment.Link clenched his fists and turned away from it.

"There's nothing I can do.."The skeleton was quiet for a moment before it spoke again.

"Allow me to show you something.."it says.Link looked backed at it and gasped when he saw you standing in the skeleton's place.You didn't say anything,just stared at Link with disappointing eyes.

"____-_______."Link mumbles,reaching out to you.You place your hands to your chest and step away from him.

"Have you given up Link?"you ask softly.Link stared at you for a moment.

"_______..I..there's nothing I can do!"he cries.You shake your head.

"There's always something Link..but you've given up..Have you given up on me?"you ask again.

"Of course not!"Link shouts,stepping forward."But..but you're not here anymore.You gave up on me!"Tears softly ran down Link's cheeks that he wiped away quickly."What about you _______?What about when you gave up?I wanted to stay with you but you told me to go.That there was nothing left for me to do..You gave up on me!"

You stare at the weeping blonde for a moment before approaching him and softly wrapping your arms around his waist.

"I'm sorry.."you mumble.Link tightly wrapped his arms around your frail figure and sobbed into your soft (h/c) hair."But please..please don't give up Link.."And just like that,you were gone and Link collapsed to his knees,sobbing immensely.

"So is that it?"A male voice said this time.Link looked up from his pool of tears only to see Thorn now standing there glaring down at him with his arms crossed.

"Thorn?"Link choked out.

"Hmph,look at you Link.Is that it?You give up just like that?"he asks.Link wiped his eyes and stood up straight.

"Thorn I-"

"I don't wanna hear it.You've given up.It's pretty obvious.But this isn't at all what I expected from you.I was hoping that maybe you could protect Midna for me while I was out of the picture."Thorn sighed.

"There's nothing I can do!Nicolei is too strong!"Link shouted.

"No!That's not the problem!You're too weak!Both mentally and in strength.So now what?You're just gonna let Nicolei's evil consume the world?"Thorn asks.

"What can I do?"Link mutters.

"You can fight!Fight for everything!For me,Midna.You can fight for ________.She wouldn't want you to be like this.."Thorn says softly before disappearing just like you had done.Next left was Zelda,causing Link to be taken aback a bit.

"Zelda?What are you-?"Link sputtered.

"Has the hero given up?"Zelda asks.Link stared at her,not giving an answer."I see..Is this the man that protected me once?Who saved Hyrule and the Twilight Realm?

"Zelda..it's not that..it's just.."

"I know saving the world is not easy Link.But you mustn't give up.You are strong and you have saved Hyrule once before.."Zelda says.

"But Zelda,Nicolei is different.He's stronger."Link says.Zelda shook her head.

"No,you are just improperly trained.."she says.Link stares at her.

"Improperly trained.."he repeats.Zelda nods.

"Yes,but no matter what difficulties you face you must never give up because.."Zelda takes Link's hand and places something tightly in it.Link stared at her in shock as she disappeared and your image appeared once more,holding Link's hand.You look up at him and smile.

"Because,I'm always rooting for you big guy,"You say.Link blinked at you then looked down to see the Master sword clasped tightly in his and your hands.

"My sword!"link gasps.Quickly he looks back up at you but is disappointed to see only the skeleton in front of him again.

"Now do you understand Link?"it asks.Link nods and holds his sword tightly.

"I do.."he says softly.The skeleton smirked and pulled out it's own sword.

"Good,you have taken your first step!"It exclaims.Links eyes widen in confusion.

"Step to what?"he asks.

"The step to becoming strong enough to defeating Nicolei!"
