Lomadia woke with a start, what a strange dream... She decided not to think about it as it blurred and faded from her mind.
She stepped outside to see Nilesy looking out over the edge of owl island.
"Whats up Niles?" she sat beside him, dipping her feet in the cool water as he had done.
"Nah its nothing. Just not sleeping very well."
Lomadia remembered Nilesy telling her about having bad dream. Maybe it wasn't a coincidence about her dream as well.
"Me and Mr Owl missed you the past few days."
"Sorry, I decided to visit the other industries. I guess I needed to get myself sorted out and clear my mind a bit."
"You saw the others? How was Xephos?"
"He was..." he pondered whether telling her was a good idea "He was fine. So were the others."
"That's good, I just had a strange feeling."
Nilesy looked to the blonde as she stared at the slowly rolling water that whipped at their ankles. Her eyes glistened in the moonlight, if only they'd look at him for once. She cared so much for the spaceman, but to what end? It was obvious to him how much she cared for the man from the stars, if only that affection belonged to himself.
"Why so worried?" he asked and the owl lover looked up at him.
"I'm not sure really."
"Oh... You're, just worried for him then?"
"I'm worried for you too Niles, I mean, you haven't been sleeping properly and you just disappear in the middle of the night."
"I didn't think you'd be that bothered really."
"Are you kidding?" I missed you Niles." He looked up and tried to hide the shock he felt and the blush that threatened to burn through his cheeks as the owl lover smiled.
"Really?"
"Ovcourse! You're my best friend!" she ruffled his hair and stood up. "Come on, we should try and get some sleep."
"Yeah... I guess."
She walked back inside, leaving the poolboy to come in whenever he was ready. As she lay down in her bed and looked over to Mr Owl who was asleep on a branch that stuck through the wall for him, she felt bad. Something was going to happen, she knew it. And it was going to happen to some of the people she cared most for in the whole of the world.
Nilesy sat looking at the water.
"Best friend, huh?" he chuckled to himself for being so stupid. "Why don't you notice me Lom? He doesn't. But compared to him i'm... i'm just a simple little poolboy..." tears trickled down his cheeks and he took his glasses off as a small sob escaped his mouth. He needed to go to Ridge tomorrow. He didn't want her to be in danger if what he feared would happen came to pass.
