He wasn't looking forward to it at all. The last week of the first term was when the parents or various family members came to see how well the students were doing at Yogcademy. Unfortunately for Xephos, this meant a confrontation with his dad. Great. His dad and himself were very different, the man was about business and wealth, he didn't believe in music or friendship, just deals and clients. Xephos himself loved his friends, and music as well, ovcourse, his father objected to it and him as well.
Well, something good was happening this week at least. His dad couldn't make it, he had a 'big work opportunity' as always, and couldn't come to see him. Good. Let him go to his stuck-up clients. Who needed him?

Xephos walked down the corridor and into his and Lalna's room to see his scientist friend and Rythian stood talking to a black haired women with a blonde fringe and teal eyes.
"Oh, hey Xeph." Lalna said. Xephos smiled and the scientist turned back to the women. "Oh, yeah, this is mine and Rythian's mum." he stated and Xephos walked over.
"Nice to meet you." the women said in a kind and friendly voice.
"He's not much of a speaker..." Rythian stated when Xephos smiled.

Over the next few days he had had met almost all of his friends parents/family, Rythian and Lalna's mum, Lomadia's cousin, Nilesy's dad came in, which was fun because he snook them a bottle of whiskey, Sips' dad, Martyn's dad, Toby's mum, all but Xevphera's parents, who didn't come. He didn't question why, he just felt glad that he wasn't the only one.
"Wasn't your dad coming?" Xevphera asked as he walked up to her in the classroom. She was sat on her own, the rest of the class were showing their parents what work they had been doing. The jocks were acting all innocent in front of their family's, typical. Couldn't say anything to anyone when they were there, but as soon as they were gone, they'd start up again.
He took his seat next to Xevphera and looked to her. She was wearing a denim jacket with the sleeves ripped off, a white shirt with a messy star on the front. Her jeans were bright red with denim rips and Purple pumps. On her nose sat the nerd glasses he had let her keep at the start of term and her fringe was coloured a deep purple.
"Well, yeah. But..."
"But?" She smiled as he turned to her again. He felt himself smiling back.
"He was... busy."
"Oh?"
"I don't care though, me and him... don't really see eye to eye as it is, I really couldn't care less if he were-" he looked to the door where a man wearing a long purple/blue coat with golden rims stood. He walked in and whispers came form around the room.
"That's Ridgedog... the reaper..."
Xephos couldn't believe it, why was he here?! He kept his eyes on his father as he walked over to him. He avoided eye contact as the man with curly brown hair sat down in front of him, crossing his legs in a manor, one which made him look respectable and powerful.
"Son." he said, his voice was snarling and a mocking rung through.
He didn't answer.
"How's your 'music' going?" the man smirked horribly.
He stood and everyone turned to look at him. A silence fell over the room and he walked past his father and out the door.

------------

He lay on his bed, chucking a ball at the ceiling which made a loud bang, and catching it when it came back down again. Eventually he got fed up and lobbed the small ball at the wall, sitting up and running his hand through his hair. Whenever his dad was around, he couldn't relax, he was constantly on edge, trying to impress a man who never excepted what he achieved and always said to aim higher, even when he did the best he could, better than everyone else, it still wasn't enough.
A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts. He sat back on his bed, his back against the frame and Xevphera walked in.
"Xeph?"
He looked up and nodded.
"You ok?"
"I'm fine."
"..."
He looked to the floor, where the small ball sat, having bounced back off the wall. The elf sat down next to him and picked up the ball, fiddling with it as she thought. He looked to her nails, painted purple with a small red fox on top. Cute.
"Your dad seems... interesting." she said finally, knocking Xephos from his trance.
"He's not."
"...The first thing he said to me was 'My sons not the greatest but I'd have thought he'd gave better standards than you'... Hmm" she smiled to herself. "I didn't realise that it looked as if we were a couple." she joked and he smiled to her.
"Sorry about him."
"What's he got against music?"
"Its not academic, it wont get me anywhere in life."
She smiled and nodded, before turning to him and pulling the ball up to the middle of them both.
"See this?"
He nodded.
"Well, imagine this is the world."
"Why-"
"Just imagine. Now, The world rotates." she began turning the ball in her fingers. "It orbits and spins, and the moon orbits around that." she smiled as Xephos watched the ball flowing inbetween her fingers. "It does not rotate around your dad." She chucked the ball in the air and caught it in her other hand without even looking. She did a small smile as the ball sat still in her grip. "Don't let him pick your paths, Xeph." she put her hand in his and stood up off the bed before walking out of the door.

Xephos looked down at the small ball that was now in his grip. It smelt like strawberry hand cream, he liked strawberries.
