The redhead opened his eyes, only to be met by an eerie darkness. He let out a silent sigh. What time was it? It had to be far past midnight – everything was pitch black, and he could hear his companion's light, yet deep breathing. He cuddled a little closer to the body, their fingers still intertwined. He buried his face into those silky white locks and closed his eyes once more in hopes of getting some much-needed sleep.

He didn't know why he was doing it – but he was. After taking a deep breath, he knocked on the door to his lover's apartment. When he received no answer, he raised a brow, checking the doorknob. The door was open. Growing slightly worried, he pushed the door ajar, poking his head inside. He crept through the living room, calling her name. He heard noise coming from her bedroom. It sounded odd; foreign – as if it shouldn't be heard coming from her home. His steps silent, he proceeded to investigate. Her bedroom door was cracked slightly, so he peeked inside, his eyes curious. He immediately regretted it – his face paled and he felt his heart lurch.

He stumbled backwards a few paces, backing up against the wall, the threat of tears in his light brown eyes, before the tears suddenly dried and astonishment was quickly replaced by fury and betrayal. He gritted his teeth, pushed the door open with a mighty shove and stood in the doorway – two pairs of frightened eyes turning to look at him. His eyes were smoldering with fury – intensifying when he heard the girl of his dreams cry out. "It isn't what it looks like!"

The redhead raised a brow, scowling. "I think it looks like you're cheating on me, Yuri." He replied, his tone soft; flat; icy. He narrowed his eyes, staring at the scene before him, gazing coldly at the two naked bodies which were intertwined with one-another, tangled in the sheets. He saw a slick sheen of sweat covering the both of them, and it took all of his strength not to go over to that man and punch him. With an indignant huff, he turned on his heels and stalked away. As he walked, he was vaguely aware of the sound of shuffling coming from the bedroom, before he suddenly felt a hand grab his shoulder. He turned meeting Yuri's light green gaze. "What?" He asked, his voice laced with venom.

"Kai … I didn't mean to hurt you …" She whispered. "But … God dammit, I have needs too you know!" Her voice suddenly rose, as hot as fire. "It's your fault for not being there for me! It's your fault for pushing me to do this! It's your entire fault! You're just a spoiled rich kid who has no sympathy for other people!" Kai suddenly grabbed her roughly, pushing her back. She stumbled backwards and fell, shrinking back as Kai loomed over her.

The redhead was silent for a while, fishing something out of his pocket. A small black velvet box. He opened it, plucking its contents out holding it up to the light, showing a sterling silver ring with a dazzling diamond in the middle of it. He looked at it, and then looked at Yuri, a scowl on his face. "I can't believe I was going to ask you to marry me …" When he saw her eyes light up, he squeezed his own shut before letting the ring fall carelessly to the floor. "Go to hell."

That was the last thing he said before leaving the room in fury.

He woke once more – this time it was early morning. He groaned softly, shrinking away from the sunlight that filtered softly in through their window. That's when he felt the body beside him stir. He looked at his companion – surprised to find their hands still clasped firmly together – and smiled warmly. "Good Morning." All memory of the dream last night vanished with the arrival of the sun – for now, at least – when he saw his partner smile back. However – why he suddenly remembered that day was a complete mystery to him. He was young when he "popped the question" to the maiden, only a mere seventeen (of course they wouldn't marry until it was legal) – only a year ago. He had practically forgotten about her – so why was he remembering now? …

Well – it appeared as if he'd be remembering that horrid tragedy – and many others – for the rest of the day; throughout his assignment. And it would bring back feelings he believe he had cast aside; emotions he believe were long-gone …Just like his past.
