Description
For me, the Cardinal is one of the most beautiful local birds to my area, second only to the Blue Jay.See also:

So many photos by so many people, they do slip by me. And then later on when I have time I meander around and discover ones that I missed. Sometimes I'm looking for specific subjects, and so a lot of other stuff slips by. And some days I'm just so totally bleag I don't fave much at all. But just know I've been a fan of yours since, wut?, last year? How long you been here? Seems I've been faving you forever. I first arrived May 09. Took me a while to figure out what I was supposed to be doing though.

That sounds about right. I remember when you first showed up, I was like because your shots and quality were really topnotch. Still are!

Stunning colour! Spent a year in Ohio (our son was born there) and only caught a fleeting glimpse of these little guys from time to time...shame, they are beautiful

I hope that one day I can do beautiful work as you... I think You have become my new idol... Cardinals are something that I shared with my motherinlaw. I grew up in Texas until I was 17 and then my parents move us to Oregon. I had not seen a cardinal since I left. I just moved back to Texas about 5 years ago. The first day here I looked out the back door and there were 4 in her tree... They are truly one of Gods Treasures.
Thanks for sharing.....

My pleasure
I have never seen more than one male plus one female at once, so I envy you.
And me an idol? Nah, maybe an idea giver, at best

You are correct, who doesn't love Cardinals, ever Stanford U. does. I wonder how do you capture the shot without scaring them off?

I have lots of shots with "scared off" cardinals (and all kinds of other animals) but I don't show these, of course
Also - a 400mm lens sure helps big time

I agree the berries add so much in bringing the whole composition together and the clarity and dof are superb !
