Description
The Tra'jiv are native to a frozen exoplanet and swim in the sea that bursts with life under the several miles of ice that swathes their planet. The Tra'jiv are the only species on this planet, called EXO-45, that have intelligence comparable to ours. They are able to communicate and have different cultures that span world-wide. They have just recently started contemplating if there is anything past the ice - most see it as the place the universe ends. Due to scarce resources and harsh climates, it has really stunted the growth of intelligence, and if they could survive in a planet with as much resources as earth it is thought they would have become a space-faring civilization eons ago. This is my entry for the (founded by the awesome ) monthly challenge. This months theme was ocean! I recommend joining, its really fun!

So alien... how do they sense their environment? How do they communicate?

The purple mass of flesh is in control of most senses, they communicate by clicks and echolocation, along with various forms of sign language.
