Description Inks and a background would help. Don't know that I'll be doing either, though, 'cause I honestly see about a dozen little weak things about this, like cracks in a wall. Too many tangents, the thrust doesn't sell, her elbow and his face, the spear and the foreground hand... I got some inking tricks that would make this acceptable, but it's weak. I think I'll Scrap this one and try again.

Still, good practice. Her costume isn't really as bad as it looks, when you just work it up in layers. Lotta light 6H sketching went into this one before I started into the detail pencil with an HB. Final image is 8x10, pencil on Bristol.

i think it's a great piece, i'm sure the problems you mentioned would get fixed with inking. but honestly, the whole piece flows and really intruiges me.

i loves it !

I really like the crispness of your lines. I must ask, when your planning out your works, are you very sketchy in the begging and spend lots of time cleaning up and tightening?

Pretty sketchy, yeah... I usually start with a tiny thumbnail just to get the idea out, and then I sketch it out very roughly and continue to tighten it up until I can see where to put the final lines.

well, that's good to hear. I'm really sketchy too, but sometimes (most of the time actually) I just get lazy and don't want to tighten up... oopppss.. Oh well, its a process in which we must obey.

I think you should do a burning villiage for the background, it looks good though

like most motivated art grinder (whatever it is, i think you get what i mean heh), you criticise your own works the most. i think the errors you talk about are trivial. the overall work, especially the feeling of depth, the dynamism and the level of detail is quite impressive. keep up the good work.
