Because her race lost that hability due to their environment. They became infertile and their only way to survive is cloning their race. Normally that wouldn't be a problem for her but when she goes to earth she learns about all the mothers and babies stuff and decides that she would like a baby of her own....and steals one

hahaha XD well the problem is that her race doesn't reproduce that way...in fact her race should have extincted a long time aglo, but they just refuce to die. But bottom line, they clone themselves. They can't have babies the natural way.
