Description
All this food, the hunger that defeatsAlas, the scale! We finally meet.
Weighing a whopping two hundred and thirty,
Looking at my body I feel so dirty.
So I'm trying something new to help me lose weight
I often pass out, but lost one hundred sixty-eight.
"Anorexia," that's what they all it
They claim it's dangerous and causes trouble--
But look at me; I've lost more than double!
It's kicking in, I'm feeling those regrets
Starving and passing out is what I get.
I can see past my skin, straight to my bones
So limp, so weak; I feel so alone.
Take my word of advice, don't starve yourself;
If you want to lose weight, find some other help.

anorexia and depression are not the same thing. if you lose weight with depression it's because you have no apetite, don't have the energy to put in the effort it takes to even eat, or because you feel sick when you eat because you're so anxious inside about other things.

That doesn't mean it's a form of it, and they're treated very differently.

Actually, they can both be treated with very similar medication.

...So can Borderline Personality Disorder, Social Phobia, Bipolar, OCD, GAD, Schizophrenia, and there's a long list. Medication is meant to be broad horizon but therapy wise it's different.

Anorexia is not a form of depression... depression sometimes results from having anorexia, but the illness itself is about control issues, anxiety, and perfectionism. If anything, it's more similar to OCD than depression. Not that either illness is easier to live with, of course. They both are devastating.

I agree with AsunderDarling..
Everyone is telling me how tiny i am and while it makes me feel good,it also makes me feel bad.If you were to look at my hands, you could really see that they are so small and skeleton like.I stopped eating dinner and snacks because i thought that if i put on anymore pounds, that i would look fat and unattractive.
It's a serious disease and is nothing to sneeze at.No matter how many times you tell them to eat and eat and eat,
they will refuse and say,"But if i'm already fatter than a cow." Truth is that even if you have a bit of a gut,it means that you're healthy.

Ohmygosh, that's me too! O.o I mean..when ppl say I'm extremely small (which I'm really not..b/c I know people WAY smaller than me, some being the same grade as me) I'm just like, "..okaaaay." But people tell me my hands are like skeletons too! Some of my friends go, "woah!!! why are your fingers SO skinnyyyy?!?!" And my sisters don't like it when I tap them on the shoulder b/c they say my hands feel creepy n they get chills or whatever. -.-

It's not really a joke, so many suffer from it every day.
Ever since I was little I was way to skinny, but that was due to genetics and people that I was Anorexic and I had to explain that I wasn't. Cause I ate everything in sight. I'm finally at a comfortable and healthy weight and I have been able to keep it. So It's all good. I weight 150lbs over the 95/100 that I have been for the past several years.
This is a horrible disorder and I would guess the category would be "Poems/Emotional?" maybe...?
Well take care.
-AsunderDarling.

I know. So many people suffer from a lot of things each and every day. I'd say people who are anorexic if you can like..see nearly straight to their bones (like I included in the poem). I'm skinny and underweight, but not that skinny that you can see my bones. But I mean, I def. have friends my age who weigh way less or are way smaller and all.

Yeah, it's sad too cause most people suffering from Anorexia do it to themselves. It's my worst fear is loosing that much weight. I would rather have fat rolls than bones sticking out. Not trying to be mean or anything.

Well, I'm pretty sure that if you have anorexia you do it to yourself anyways because you usually starve yourself into wanting to lose wight or something. Or you could be anorexic if u have evil parents who starve you until death or something like that. If you have anorexia rather than having all this fat covering your body (no offense to anorexics), I think it'd be more likely that you'd break a ton more bones if you make one simple fall..

AsunderDarling In reply to Insaneymaney [2011-07-13 01:06:14 +0000 UTC]
Now parents starving someone to death is not Anorexia that's just abuse. Anorexia is self inflicted, to lose weight.
I would rather be bigger just because I would feel healthier.

yeah, that's neglect, torture, abuse; but kids can look anorexic from that I mean.
