Winner of the Kick Ass Princess poll was Merida from Brave. I was very disappointed in this film because it sold itself in trailers to me as a story of a young girl who had to face her fears and become"Brave" and then I see it and it's a story about her mom becoming a bear and them compromising their outlooks....mehWell regardless here she is drawn in my style

There are pros and cons of the film. I liked the concept of the Merida having no love interest and the idea of facing her fears but I will agree about the whole mother-daughter thing. Now that I'm older, I could see why. It was suppose to be one of the filmmaker's influence from her daughter. Though they could have arranged the situation more differently...we've already seen enough teen angst from the other princesses but they're different.
Personally, it's better than other films out there that are far worse (and I do mean it when I've seen other animated films that are so bad...they're bad). At least it's ok.

Yeah it's ok...but not ok enough to be in my collection. I'd rather of seen her coming of age story without the bear plot

I didn't see the trailers, but what I got was some pretty believable backgrounding (particularly the birlinns) and a princess who didn't need a man to define her!

It's like lost but set in a New England town (for the most part) with fairy tale characters. And characters somewhat related to disney. Hell last season they had characters from Frozen on. xD Way to go Disney!

Oh. Well if you're into having your favorite fairy tales/classic children movies/ recent Disney movies get involved in a G-rated david lynch project with magic it might be worth it. I kinda hated this one falshback episode where the main character was shown to be a con-artist like ten or more years ago and she was dressed like a modern hipster. I was like "Da Fuq?!"

It disappointed me, too.Β I was hoping for more of a celtic folklore based story, but it was just your typical mom-vs-daughter teen angst story.

I thought Brave was fine. For some movies, you gotta ignore how it's advertised and expect anything to happen with an open mind, especially if it's marketed the wrong way. I used that same mindset when seeing the equally mis-marketed new SpongeBob movie this year and that worked out pretty well.
All that aside, nice drawing.

Nice work! Even if I don't really like Merida much...She basically drugged her own mom with witch's brew in an attempt to brainwash her into changing her mind against her will...And ended up turning her into a BEAR instead...Either way, pretty shitty thing to do to your own mother when you have what should be the obvious alternative of TALKING THINGS OUT lol.Β

Awesome, great pic of such a cool character. While Brave as a film wasn't as good as I was hoping, this girl made it better, she was such a great departure from the typical Disney Princesses we have had.
