Description Taking my newest wig out for a spin. Same clown outfit as usual because I haven't taken the time to alter the pieces of clothing for the new one. Such is college life.

Someday I will finish my Tiny Tim inspired clown. It will happen. Just... not anytime soon.

I still think this is your best clown photo! The background just goes perfectly with your costume!

(a Tiny Tim inspired clown? I must see this once you get around to making that costume!)

Thank you! Yes, I agree; it's definitely the best clown photo I have. I don't know when I'll get around to making that Tiny Tim clown... but I'm sure I'll do it someday!

I have to say, I really like those pants even if I have an aversion to clowns.

I like your pose. Very confident!

InstilledPhear In reply to PhantomSeptember [2014-03-13 18:46:01 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! The pants are a thrift shop special. XD I found a couple of different pants on the Halloween rack that I liked and just shoved them together to make these ones. Thrift stores are a good way to go if ever you're in need of a clown costume! Though... I doubt you'll ever be in need of a clown costume. X'D

This is the pose I usually fall back on when I'm dressed like this. That kind of arrogant, "Ha, I know I scare you" kind of pose. I also have very exaggerated Jack Sparrow-esque movement and body language. It's rather entertaining to see me clowning around.

You're an androgynous clown.
Is that deliberate?

InstilledPhear In reply to Onyx-Philomel [2014-02-26 21:28:51 +0000 UTC]

It is, indeed! When this clown was first created years ago, my goal was to fluster people into not being able to figure out my true gender. It was the first instance in which I ever donned a costume that renders me unrecognizable. Truth be told, I've been striving for that aspect ever since.

You've aptly succeeded.

When I was younger I was fairly androgynous at times.

I thank thee! Your compliments are much appreciated.

Young'uns are generally quite androgynous, I've noticed. This was not so for me as a kid, though... which may be why I have a monster complex nowadays.

Why, thank you! I'm quite glad that you liked it enough for a fave. I strive to be a creepy clown, so it makes me happy when I can pull off frightening and whimsical all at once.

Just give it time like you've been doing.  College life is quite the busy life afterall.  And there is between semesters to give you a bit of free time

InstilledPhear In reply to NinRac [2014-01-28 19:11:25 +0000 UTC]

I'm so burned out between semesters that I can hardly commit to daily life, let alone personal projects. X'D I'm really going to tone it down next year, though. As soon as I'm done with generals, I can finally concentrate on the art program like I've been WANTING to do ever since I freakin' STARTED college. Stupid government and its useless required GE credits. Ridiculous.

NinRac In reply to InstilledPhear [2014-01-29 01:46:45 +0000 UTC]

Yeah but those are going to be the classes that give you all of the major projects that take up a lot more time (and you're not going to cut back on those either).  I do agree with those stupid requirements (especially when they are requirements to even pass high school in the first place....like why do programmers need to waste time with Algebra?  If they want to be programmers they should have been through that with no problem even before applying for colleges)

InstilledPhear In reply to NinRac [2014-01-29 05:46:57 +0000 UTC]

Exactly. I actually wrote an extensive essay last semester on how inefficient America's education system is because of stuff like standardized testing and general ed. It makes me want to go to Finland, where they don't give homework or tests and they might even pay you to go to school. Come on, 'Murica! Get with the system! X'D

I intend to be a part-time student next year, so I'm not worried about getting bogged down with too much work. I'd rather have only two or three art classes a semester and dedicate all of my time to those. I've been holding down seven or eight classes each semester as of late. Eeeek. Not recommended.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NinRac In reply to InstilledPhear [2014-01-29 13:52:36 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, and another major problem with standardize testing is there are many people who know the material but just do not test well (and there are those who test well on standardized tests because they are lucky/good at guessing).  Also, to claim there is no better way of verifying these tests knowing those details for so long is just foolish lies of lazy people who want to get paid for not doing anything but keeping tradition.  There are big reasons why America keeps sinking further behind other countries in education afterall

Ah...yeah, I have done that and did it throughout college.  It was intense.  I hear that 3 art classes within the same semester is still very intense (because of all the big projects to do....in particular towards the end of the semester).  Hopefully it goes according to plan

InstilledPhear In reply to NinRac [2014-02-03 03:26:27 +0000 UTC]

Yep, test-taking is just plain stressful. Especially where they treat you like a prisoner in testing centers. I went in to take my chemistry exam the other day and, ironically, the alarm that I set on my phone to remind me to TAKE the test--and the phone was off, by the way--turned on my phone just long enough to set off the horribly loud alarm in the testing room. Needless to say, because my phone made sounds, they came in and took my test away and kicked me out. Fun stuff. I almost cried. How was I supposed to know that phones that are off do that?

I would enjoy doing art all the time. Even if it eats up my life. It's better than getting eaten up by horrid things like math and science. The only problem for me would be potentially liking one class more than the others and therefore not doing things to the best of my ability in the other two classes. It seems like something I would do.

NinRac In reply to InstilledPhear [2014-02-03 15:00:41 +0000 UTC]

I did not know they could do that.  I hope mine does so that I can turn it off when I am asleep so that I don't keep getting woken up by random phone calls when I am sleeping  I am sure that must have been a frustrating thing.  I wouldn't have guessed that could happen though.

Ah...that is a bit of a concern and if you're only taking 3 classes that could be a problem  Hopefully it never gets in the way enough to hurt your classes/grades though

Really wonderful costume Heather! And the wig is really cool, athough it reminds me of timburton-esque Madd Hatter as well as Tiny Tim.

InstilledPhear In reply to ScarlettRavenInk [2014-01-28 19:08:47 +0000 UTC]

Why, thank you! Come to think of it, the wig DOES look very Mad-Hatter-esque. I hadn't thought of that. XD My new clown costume probably won't have a hat, though, to stay true to the Tiny Tim persona, so it'll look less Hatter-y in the future. It's a pretty darn great wig though, and excellent quality for how little I paid for it. I love wigs.
