Honestly, I like the darkness and would state the contrast is juuuuuust right.
If you permit something to become too much work, however, it's a good idea to step away for a moment and take a deep breath and recapture yourself. Remember to always work when the inspiration and mood strikes, and let not other things inhibit that which "is kind to the muse..." (Bad Religion quote from decades ago, forgive me... "

Gotta keep on track! Yep, I know entirely how that feels, sweety, been there also. I've learned to recognize when I need at least a little breather/refresher, even if it's for a minute or two. Little stretch isn't stopping, for instance. But it's that kind of persistence that permits you to keep doing what you do so well, just make sure you have that same persistence for other things... like, i dunno, a relaxing cup of tea?
