Description
Danny Phantom is like what I've done with My Life as a Teenage Robot: I planned to review this in October 2016, but shelved due to taking a break from cartoons and I didn't watch this show until spring break. For a reason, this show is like Kim Possible mixed with My Life as a Teenage Robot, but that's just me. Anyways, as analyzed by the pie chart, this show is doing a little worse than My Life as a Teenage Robot because since that show has more episodes that were at least good as said by the pie chart, the percentage is dropped from the pie chart by making it look fairly similar to my pie chart of Johnny Test. There are lesser episodes that were at least good (30% of the pie chart) and even more episodes that I don't care about (57% of the pie chart). However, considering that this show has lesser weak episodes (because this show's short) than Teenage Robot, I don't have to worry about the frustration I have to go through. But sadly, this show only has 1 blessed episode (Fanning the Flames) that woefully made it to the range by a hair. By looking at the pie chart, Danny Phantom is a very lukewarm cartoon, possibly one of the most lukewarm next to the Jimmy Neutron franchise.
If you guys have been wondering what's my problem with Danny Phantom, let's talk about the writing:
Now, my opinions on the writing is unpopular because... just read: Anyways, the premise doesn't look like this show is going to shine at this moment. It feels like your same old superhero cartoon with the main character having a backstory that shows us how'd he/she got his/her superpowers (A fun fact is that how Danny have ghost powers was explained in the theme song). While every episodes stays loyal to the premise, the main problem with all of them is that they're the same god for saken episode over and over again. That might be very common for superhero shows, but it feels like this show is repetitious, considering that the bonding is a mix, the earlier episodes were interesting but every episode using the same superhero arc makes this show feel old already, it can occasionally get generic, there could've been story arcs in this cartoon, or I was distracted in the middle of the episode because of one scene. But in all, the writing here is just okay. Every episode looks like it intends to be different from one and each other, but sometimes, the episodes can be interesting and a little enjoyable, along with a variety of interesting characters and villains. While this show has weak potential, it can get creative sometimes and could make a few episodes like allegories. Yeah, considering that the writing is lukewarm stained, at least it tries to make me enjoy this show a little.
Not everything from Danny Phantom is bad in my opinion, but here's what I thought of the cool quality:
Sadly, the colors are too generic for a superhero show, saying that a typical superhero cartoon uses cool color schemes like dark blue and black colors to give us a dark feeling of what happens if this happens in real life. Also, most of the action/scenes take place at night, contributing to the show's repetitiveness. And saying that the character designs and backgrounds were ripped from The Fairly OddParents, I can still forgive Butch Hartman and the animators because the animation here looks cool. It uses more green and purple rather than pink, blue, green, and purple from The Fairly OddParents. I liked how the ghosts have an outer glow (because that they're... well ghosts) and how the animators animated their tails is pretty divine. The character designs are very good because instead of looking just bland, the animators give the designs different clothing to represent who they are and they did it pretty damn well. Even though they use green and purple a lot throughout this show, the animation here is The Fairly OddParents but done to look cooler and appealing.
Kind of like the same results as My Life as a Teenage Robot. The writing is a mix, but the animation is divine. What will the characters root for?
The character are bland at first, but I can sometimes relate to them. There are a few characters that I like because of how interesting and enjoyable they are (Vlad for example), but some of them are one dimensional, generic, or annoying, meaning that I don't really like the characters as much as the animation. Sure, they have character traits, but they aren't that strong. And besides, character development is at least shown here, but some episodes took that all away (most of the meh episodes in a nutshell). Not only that, but some villains don't even work as villains depending on their age and how evil they are. In my opinion, a few characters are just okay, but their cons make some of them a little towards weak.
At first, I thought Danny Phantom will be solid just like My Life as a Teenage Robot, but the execution has to be done. I just find Danny Phantom fair (64%) and a drop from My Life as a Teenage Robot due to the repetitiveness, similarities with The Fairly OddParents, and a lukewarm cast where a few are likeable, but others don't work very well. In all, I just find this show overrated. Nothing has surprised me in this show because I've seen pretty much everything before watching Danny Phantom. Like My Life as a Teenage Robot, it's a show that I could've liked, but this show is another generic superhero cartoon. Well, at least it isn't as bad as the Crash Nebula pilot...

I saw this show as a kid. I got to see it again after buying a Nick Out of the Vault Rewind DVD for only $5. Quoting , this is both Butch Hartman's best work and one of my favorite Nicktoons. I think I'll buy the complete series of this show the next time I go to a Walmart that's right around the corner from my house since it's only $20. And when you said "this show uses green and purple a lot", I now love this show even more because green and purple are my favorite colors! I'll save everything else for the scorecard and review of this show once I see the whole thing.

To me season three was not so bad. I know it had its problems, but at the same time, Butch was pretty much having his creation taken away from him just because he wanted to put love into the show. Nickelodeon is the reason why season three turned out the way it did. As for Phantom Planet, I can forgive it. It was okay in my opinion. You can say that TheMysteriousMrEnter desensitized me to bad episodes with his reviews of things like Ren Seeks Help, Mega Babies, Family Guy, Drawn Together the Movie, King Star King, Kung Foo Dino Posse, Angela Anaconda, etc. So It is possible you can make the arguement "as long it is not Ren Seeks Help, I can forgive it."
