Description
This is in no way a tutorial but it will give you guys an idea of how I work through these pieces I make.I always start off in a very very rough and sloppy sketch to get and idea of how I want the composition/arrangement to look. I didn't always did that which is a rookie mistake.
Here's the final result:[link]

Thanks
Now she will finally believe me,and by the way I would never thought anything like her.She is maybe a little jealous that you can draw anime MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH better than her
And sorry for taking your time

Please don't be sorry! Pleasure is all mine dear! Thank you so so so much!
If it is jealously, she needs to realize I wasn't always this good; it took me YEARS just to get like this and it doesn't matter how good someone else is, there will always be someone better. Art shouldn't be a competition.I felt jealous all the time when I first started out but I turned that jealously into inspiration to PUSH myself to do better

Hey, this is great I never doubted you for a moment
Who would doubt you, seriously?
I have questions: What program do you use for your coloring? It doesn't look like photoshop...unless it's a drastically newer version than I have.
And how do you get those awesome shading effects? Could you go into a bit more detail explaining how you do it? When I shade it involves gazillions of layers and a lot of pain on my part, and it doesn't come out nearly as nice as yours.
Thanks!

I use Paint Tool Sai for the most part and I may bring it into photoshop for extra effects.
For shading, I start off using the brush tool for that sai program then I go and use the "blur" brush tool to blend the edges
a bit and I do the same when I add the highlights(lighter color in seperate layer)
but yeah...I do the the same for their clothes. That blur/blend tool is really what makes the shading "pop"

Hmmm very interesting. It sounds similar to what I do with photoshop, but with some little differences. I'd love to see a more in depth tutorial on how you do your colour work.
Do you use something like photoshop's pen tool for your digital inking?

I actually do the lineart in Paint Tool Sai...sometimes I use the actual pen
tool(which can let me edit it to straighten out the lines) or sometimes I'll
free hand it with the brush, trying not to make any mistakes
But yeah, I can show you a little more in depth when I get the chance

I'll have to check out this paint tool sai thing. Is it really expensive?
Also, do you use a tablet? That's probably an investment I can never justify, but it seems the majority of artists doing digital work use one.

This should be of some help to you:[link]
And yes the tablet is VERY useful! Now I've seen some artists do amazing things with a mouse but...that is a lot more difficult to deal with.
