Here is my October entry for

Wow.

This took me quite some time to do.

I started this on October 19, and I finished it a few hours ago.

October is terribly busy for me. I was working two jobs (one is over now, thank God) and trying to juggle school and rehearsals on top of them. Not to mention I've had the worst family life in a while lately. I am so thankful that we were granted extra time to finish our artwork for October!

However, I don't want to complain since all that stress and sadness really gave me the inspiration to make this piece, which has the perfect lonely and sad feeling to it.

Anyway, onto the picture. The theme for October was "Fall", which really gave everyone free rein. And I absolutely love Halloween and all things spooky, so I was super excited to work on this picture, even if I was busy and had to get to it later than I had hoped for.

Lyekal loves scary, creepy things as well. She also adores Lolita fashion, even if she doesn't really wear it often. So, for this entry, she decided to incorporate spooky things with Lolita fashion, which resulted in this outfit.

Lyekal had a miserable, lonely teenage and young adult life, but rather than dwelling on the sadness it caused her, she embraces it and accepts it as something that shaped her into who she is today. Without those rough and upsetting experiences and events, Lyekal would be a completely different Irken. Her music wouldn't be the deep, brooding ballads that have made her famous; she might not have become a musician at all if it wasn't for her sketchy earlier life.

So, therefore, this dress symbolizes the sorrow and misery she faced that have made her who she is today. The dark shadows on her face, the deep shade of the sky, and her blue clothing symbolize that dark past. Likewise, the bright moon, highlights on her skin/clothes, and use of the color yellow throughout her outfit symbolize both her cheerful present and her hope for an equally wonderful future.

Also, yes, Lyekal is wearing yellow contacts. (:
