I like this a lot. I read the comments - I had some similar experiences with my sons, doing good art at school but not caring about it afterward, even though I was impressed and saved the work. My boys did not do this well though

(smile) oh, I'm so glad you like it Richard
well, I remember myself at school, I LOVE to paint... but once, somebody said something bad about one of my paintings, and I stopped painting for many many years... I think you need to have a fire burning inside you, kind of obsession for this thing, or a great deep need to deal with it...

the eyes look terrifyingly cold too - it's my favourite of the three, I think. Raw emotion is hard to convey - but he's pulled it off. Very striking!

This is unusual for a small child. It looks so modern. Perhaps you had introduced him to works by important painters.

I think it's unusual for a small child too... he made these paintings at school, and brought them home only at the end of the year, before summer vacation... and I was so astonished to see them, because I couldn't believe he made them by himself - he never painted at home... seeing them, I thought he has a talent, but he never painted again... I offered him to take a painting class after school, but he always refused to go (and was always busy with basketball)
he didn't like these paintings, and couldn't understand why I'm so enthusiastic about them... I put them in frames and hanged them on the wall of my room... btw - Anger is the title I chose for this one... a big mouth full of teeth, what else it could be?

That's nice.
My younger son drew nice things after being ill at home. As his health got better he made pictures, very small with details... Of course he doesn't any more.
