Description This is my entry to the Order: 1886 design contest.

Based on British weaponry, this is a heavy caliber revolver with an attached shotgun barrel. These types of pistols did exist in the 19th century, but were not widely used. It has been given additional bracing and a shell ejector.

The Beastheart revolver uses special shotgun shells, packed with magnesium pellets, when the pellets make contact with water (such as the water in blood), a violent chemical reaction occurs that burns incredibly bright and hot.

I would love to win this contest, I love everything about the awesome world these guys have built; here's hoping I'm good enough to contend with the huge amount of awesome entries!

.44 (10.9mm) magnum rounds and 00 gauge buckshot shells I believe.

.44 magnum rounds you say? Those are some big pistol rounds, I take it this revolver only takes 5 or 6 rounds depending on what gauge shells you're using. Which by the way is still kinda vague because you kinda got it wrong. The #00 orΒ "double-aught"Β refers to the size of the individual pellets in the shell. Larger shot numbers mean smaller pellets for other shot types.

While the term β€œgauge"Β refers to the measure of the bore diameter of the shotgun.Β The common lineup of gauges made today (from smallest to largest) are .410 gauge, 28-gauge, 20-gauge, 16-gauge, 12-gauge, 10 gauge, 8 gauge, and 4 gauge (the last two are the largest and most powerful, but they are rarely used and are more like specialty shot shells).Β The most common shells used today by most shotgun shooters are 12-gauge or 20-gauge. The 20-gauge shell was the kind of round that the LeMat Revolver used for it's under barrel shotgun. But since you're using .44 Magnums, I think you should go with 28-gauge shells.Β

Okay, thanks for the info and the advice; I'm not super knowledgeable on she'll specs and stuff so this is very helpful!

You're welcome. It's kinda important to have a good amount of knowledge on guns, when you're designing them.Β

I like to think of it as what would happen if a LeMat and a Webley revolver had a beefy baby!

Huh. I've done that before too!Β  Granted, there were a lot more elements of civil war revolvers in it...Β You've done an awesome job here, though
