Description
Manchester Victoria, the second darkest and worst station know to man has not looked this good since probably the 1960's.You may know from my previous images that they decided to seal up all the vents and build a stadium on top of it, this makes it a living hell when its full of diesel fumes.
But when its steam, its like being smothered by a big fluffy cloud
The station pretty much just disappeared after 44871 released her drain cocks, this was a few minutes before when I could still see some locomotive.

Great pic of the old girl. My earliest memory is being held up to the cab window to look in at Fort William in 1989, I was 3 months old.

OK - I'll fall for it. If Manchester Victoria is the second darkest and worst station known to man what is the worst? If it had not been closed many years ago my vote would have been for Nottingham Victoria. Built in a huge cavern, it was very atmospheric!

It has to be Birmingham new street, built under the worst run down shopping precinct producing total darkness and only have the strip lights work. I've never been to a station where I couldn't see the other end of a platform because it was sooo dark.

It looks so magical with the steam swirling around the train!
