Season One - January

Papers were scattered all over Lucretia's table, she poured over first one race then another. Golden Lane might only host three two-year olds, untested, two at least had some good racing blood, the other, well, his color would be an eye-catcher if she sent him out onto the track.

Colored Tones seemed to hold the promise of distance, seeming to never tire in his play, disliking being pulled up, raring for more.

Ebony, well, she was a firecracker of a filly, tall, though it seemed like as far as this little group went they were all destined to be giants. Her energy seemed to come in bursts, while Lucretia had few doubts about her two main jockeys it was yet to be seen if Ebony's spirit could be summoned by a rider.

And Budgie? Well, the colt was like most white horses, he loved playing in the mud, perhaps he would like to run it? He was the biggest question mark of the three. His bloodlines were a bit patchy when it came to looking for the usual markers of a sprinter versus the enduring.

Ready or not though, the three would go through their maiden races sometime this year. Hopes and dreams danced in Lucretia's head, but her practical nature knew there were oh so many things that could go wrong, so many unknowns. It was time to start narrowing down that list.
