Description
I'M REALLY HAPPY WITH THISThings don't always turn out the way they look in my head
SOOOO This is fanart for the German musical Tanz Der Vampire ("Dance of the Vampires"- which is actually the name of the English version which was on broadway starring Michael Crawford and is supposed to be terrible and awful and many other negative superlatives).
I just found out about it, and watched it online, and I thought the music was fantastic.
I'm usually pretty wary of anything to do with vampires, probably because Twilight killed most of my brain cells and has poisoned my will against ever jumping on the current vampire bandwagon.
BUT. This made me very happy. The plot was kind of blah, but the music was great.
SO.
Oh and this was done with pen. Yep. And it's the last page in my sketchbook that I just bought like two months ago. SO TIME TO BUY A NEW ONE!
The End.
PS. Her name is Sarah, and his is Count Von Krolock. And he's a vampire and she's a poor helpless virginal beauty blah blah blah.
The End.
PS Again. (EDIT: BEFORE YOU READ THIS, I *KNOW* THAT LABYRINTH CAME AFTER. But thank you for your concern
haha....ha...........yep. But that's just me......
THE END FOR REAL
Ok just one more thing. I just noticed the way I drew Sarah's dress looks a lot like Belle's from Beauty and the Beast.... the disney cartoon.... only red. And they're both dancing with a beast.
.........The End. Wow I had a lot of random stuff to say...

It's great, but it kinda looks like the finale stain glass scene from beauty and the beast.

Yeah, I mentioned in my comments how afterwards I realized her dress is basically a red version of Belle's I wasn't thinking at all of that scene when I drew it, but I think I may have subconsciously channeled some beauty and the beast there... heh.

Hmmm...I have found the way 2 ways to re-engage vampire interest after the plague that is "Twilight."
1) Hellsing Ultimate
2) Vampires the Masquerade, something I will inform you about on friday.

HEY YOU DIDN'T INFORM ME ABOUT ANYTHING!
oh wait.... that was my bad actually. Nevermind *cough* *runs away*
But yes. Half of me wants to never think about vampires ever again, and the other half me wants to viciously wallow in crazy awesome vampire stories and shove it twilight fans' faces

*grins* Which version did you watch online? Original Vienna or Hamburg? (only b/c if you haven't seen the original version... watch it! Still my favorite cast. )
As for the piece- GORGEOUS use of color and awesome linework. *thumbs up*

Thanks!
I'm not sure- I know it starred Kevin Tarte. I've seen clips from all the other versions, though, I think.

This is really beautifull: I'm truly impressed. Also, did you know that when you type "Tanz der Vampire" into dA's search tool, one of the first picture to pop up in the "Popular" section is actually yours? Don't believe me? Then type "Tanz der Vampire".
Oh and I know what you mean by the Labyrinth deja-vu: I had the same thing, but that was while watching another German musical called "Elisabeth" (I highly recommend watching/listening to it: it's great). Elisabeth in her white dress and Der Tod (german: Death) look so much like Sarah and Jareth from the ballroom scene. Seriously, when I first saw photos from the show, at first I thought they decided to make a musical version of Labyrinth!

Aw you're right, it is! That makes me super happy!
I'll have to look into that! Haha these recurring themes just pop up everywhere I guess. Gosh... the thought of someone actually making a musical version of Labyrinth- that would be so epic... wow

Wow, great idea ^^
But there's something about Sarah's face (eyebrow? nose?) that makes her look already like a vampire.

Great picture i totally like the window, it's amazing!
Yeah, it really is a bit like Labyrinth, but the origin of the musical is an old movie of Roman Polanski, so Tanz der Vampire is actually older Maybe Labyrinth is a bit like The fearless Vampire-Killers (i think, that's the original name of the movie)
But I like both, i'm pretty fine with the deja-vus

Yeah, I think that movie was 1960s, so it definitely came before Labyrinth. I haven't seen it but I want to now because the musical is so great

i watched the movie years ago on tv late at night. it was really fun - it's funnier than the musical. But Krolock is way hotter in the musical *laugh* well, after all i like the film and i adore the musical.

'Tis filled with super-awesomeness. I ave to say, besides all of the lovely intricate linework and colores and clothing designs, what caught my eye was the stained-glass rose window-esque background. I LOVE IT.
And also, this piece made me sympathize and lol at the same time:
"I'm usually pretty wary of anything to do with vampires, probably because Twilight killed most of my brain cells and has poisoned my will against ever jumping on the current vampire bandwagon."

Thank you! I'm very pleased with how it turned out!
Vampires can be pretty interesting in some stories, because they're so symbolic of fallen nature, corruption, succumbing to unhealthy desires and passions, and the attraction humans have to all those things, etc.
BUT.... when it comes to things like Twilight and all those other books and shows that have come out... they treat vampires as so awesome and glorified.... kind of scares me..... but that's just me

Um, profound insight warning just there.
Slightly interesting that we as a society glorify corruption of the soul and unhealthy desires and passions...eh?

Very beautiful! I love the simply coloring style and clean linework.
By the way, Tanz der Vampires is based on the Roman Polanski film "Fearless Vampire Killers" which came out in the 60's...long before Labyrinth in the 80's. Chances are the Labyrinth people took inspiration from Roman Polanski. XD

Thanks!
Yes, I know it came before Labyrinth so that'd be pretty bizarre if it actually drew inspiration from it haha But the coincidences made me laugh. Or maybe it's not a coincidence, and I'm just subliminally drawn to those kind of storylines.... lol
