experiment a lot with falloff. for example, a white plastic material put a falloff map into the reflection slot, falloff type "frensel. than put a raytrace map into the white falloff color. set the relfection level to 100 percent and the diffuse color make it white.

yea, i already experiment with fallof map... but no this. fallfof exeriment good to abstract
In "sojus" you use HRDRI map for reflection?

Jesar In reply to iuneWind [2005-11-25 10:22:13 +0000 UTC]
ya its a free hdri map. just google for some. "hdri" "high dynamic range image" "lightprobe" etc..

no... 40-50 (maybe more) modeling
render just 2hours... but in "low" preset of quality.

daftpunk In reply to iuneWind [2005-11-19 01:27:14 +0000 UTC]
2 hours to render... scanline or mental ray eh?
You should grab the free version of Vray, its got some bugs because its old and they dont update it, but it still rips through reflections much much faster than Mray or scanline.

o_O well that makes no sense.
How did you set up the Global Illumination?

its simple. in Render options, vray-inderect illumination and set "on"
Lightng - Big vertical column with appled "vraylight" material

daftpunk In reply to iuneWind [2005-11-23 02:27:46 +0000 UTC]
That just seems like it took way too long to be vray.. i use vray and I never have render times like that, even in a mirrored elevator with 50+ reflection distance.
Is it one of the buggy free/demo versions or the new one? Or did you render it like, much much bigger than whats actualy in that scene? I guess the glossys could have killed it..

iuneWind In reply to daftpunk [2005-11-23 05:08:12 +0000 UTC]
no... 40-50 hours - it not render time, that modeling. render time - ~2-3 hours....
