beautiful colors! quite an interesting shot. most people will take of picture of a flower after it's in full bloom. i like that it's still young and all bound up.

I like these really intense colours. The green is very calm and creates this nice deep background. the red part has a wet-looking glance, it almost looks like some kind of animal. Maybe the depth of field is too shallow, I think it woudl be nice if at least the tip of the red part of the flower was sharp. But nevertheless a very interesting and beautiful shot!

What an interesting flower! What kind is it? It's quite unique to look at; because first you would imagine the composition being a bit off because the whole flower is in the middle, but when you actually look at it closer, the colored part is what makes the image, which is off center, making it really good compositionally. What kind of camera did you use?

The shot was taken with a Nikon 950-low res by today's standards (2.1 megapixels I think), but has an incredible macro lens (you can get within an inch of something with it).
I just bought a Canon EOS 20d and a macro lens, but it only gets within about 3 inches, not quite as good as the Nikon...
