Andy pulled into the driveway of his family's house. Evan was sitting out on the front porch, reading the newspaper. "hey Son, how was school?" Evan said. Andy got out of the SUV and sighed. Evan noticed something was wrong. "son, you ok?" Evan said. Andy shook his head. "I'll tell you inside." Andy said. Evan folded the newspaper and stood up. Andy walked inside the house, followed by Evan.

Andy sat down at the kitchen table. Evan grabbed a soda for him and Andy and sat down. Sarah was in the kitchen washing dishes. "what's wrong honey?" Sarah said. Andy shrugged. "Smitty asked me to Prom." Andy said. Sarah and Evan looked at each other. "Smitty? You mean the boy Mason? The one you've know since kindergarten?" Sarah asked. Andy nodded. Evan chuckled. "what's wrong Son. You've known Mason forever. Why is Prom a problem?" Evan asked. Andy shrugged. "because Smitty is a guy." Andy said. Evan shrugged. "Yeah? AND????. So am I, so are you, so is Cole. What's your point?" Evan said. Sarah stopped washing the dishes and walked over to Andy. Sarah sat down next to Andy. Evan could see the Cybernetic twitch in Andy's hand.

"sweetheart, Smitty has been your friend since kindergarten. So what if he's a guy?" Sarah said. "Sarah....wait a minute...." Evan said, but Sarah ignored him. "Andy, he has been your best friend since kindergarten. So what? Go with him." Sarah said. Evan was about to speak but Andy interrupted him. "Mom.....Smitty IS a gay." Andy said. Evan chuckled. Sarah shook her head.

"sweetheart, Smitty liking guys does NOT mean that he's going to try something. Honey, Mason has been your best friend since kindergarten. What's the big deal." Sarah said. Andy looked at his father. Evan shrugged. "son, it's not Smitty liking guys that bothers you. What's the REAL reason?" Evan said. Andy shrugged. Sarah could see the Cybernetic twitch in his hand. Sarah gently

grabbed his Cybernetic hand. "sweetheart, Mason is your best friend. What's the REAL reason you don't want to go with him?" Sarah said. "Andrew Micheal Swinburne answer me!!.....Please." Sarah said. Andy could hear the concern in her voice. Andy was trying to hold back the cybernetic twitching in his hand. Sarah could see tears forming. Evan stood up. "son, answer your mother." Evan said. Andy looked up at his parents.

Sarah and Evan could see the Cybernetic twitch in his hand getting more severe. "Andy?? Do you like him?" Evan said. Andy was having a difficult time speaking. Sarah reached over to Andy's neck and flicked his voice modulator. "Hey is this thing working?" Sarah said. Andy let a small smile creep upon his face. "yeah mom, it works." Andy said. Evan looked at Sarah. "son, Answer me. Do you like Smitty as more than a friend?" Evan said. Andy didn't answer.

Instead he got up and left the kitchen. Sarah nodded for them to follow him. "sweetheart, answer us." Sarah said. Andy walked into his bedroom and closed the door. Evan shook his head and sat on the couch. Sarah stood at Andy's door. "sweetheart.....open this door" Sarah said to the closed bedroom door. She tried to open it but it was locked. Sarah rolled her eyes. "He may be cybernetic, but he not smart sometimes." She said to herself. She walked over to the hall closet and grabbed the allen key for the door and a broom.

Sarah unlocked Andy's door and walked in. Andy was sitting on the bed. His Royal Blue coverings off and laying on the floor, leaving his intricate torso exposed. Sarah walked over to him. Evan stood in the doorway. Andy didn't turn and look at her. "sweetheart, talk to us." Sarah said. "Mom, just leave me alone please." Andy said. Sarah could feel her frustration building. "Uhhh....No I don't think so young. Your going to get out off that bed and get back down stairs....and talk to your father and I. Do I make myself clear." Sarah almost shouted at her son. Andy layed down on the bed as if ignoring her. "Don't you dare ignore me young man." Sarah said as she was at her wits end.

Sarah took the broom and began to wave it at Andy. "Get Up.....Get up Andy....now" Sarah said as she tried to chase Andy out of his room. "Mom.....Mom what are you doing?" Andy said, trying not to laugh at his mother. Sarah was waving the broom at Andy. Evan was smiling as he hadn't seen Sarah act like this since Cole got arrested for marijuana when he was 15 . "get up....get up. Talk to us." Sarah said. She chased Andy out of his room and back downstairs into the living room. Evan was laughing. "Women is chasing me with a broom." Andy said to himself. Sarah chased Andy around the living room. Evan was still laughing, full knowing that Sarah couldn't harm Andy with a broom. But the image of her chasing a cybernetic being around the house was quite entertaining for him. "ok, ok. Mom, stop please. I'll talk." Andy said. Sarah stopped chasing him. Andy sat on the couch. Evan walked into the living room.

"Now, where were we?" Sarah said putting down the broom and sitting on a chair next to the couch. Evan sat on the couch next to Andy. "sweetheart, talk to us. Answer us. Do you like Mason as more than a friend?" Sarah said. Andy shrugged.
He didn't answer. He got up off the couch and walked over to toward the fire place. He looked upon the pictures that adored the mantle above it. Photos of his parents when they were married. A few of his grandparents holding him and his brother when they were young, one photo of himself when he graduated middle school. Sarah grabbed him by the chin. "Look AT ME" Sarah said. She could see tears forming in his eyes. "Yes.....Yes I think I do." Andy finally said.

NOTES: The big reveal I guess you could say. Though Evan and Sarah had a hard time getting Andy to admit it. Broom chasing and all. I once had my grandmother chase me around the house for something I did, but I can't recall what it was. So that is where that came from.
Next up is a slight detour from the story with a little bit of action/humor to it. Then back to the main story. Had to add a few more chapters before the actual Prom.
