I can see why! The washes are flawless (to my eye, anyway) and the paint looks so gritty and raw, like the character does.

No not at all actually. I didn't know anything about Hellblazer when I did this (almost 4 years ago) I was actually more inspired by Brad Pitt in Fight Club. I've read some Hellblazer since then, and I can totally see the resemblance.
