I had honestly thought Pikachu was Asuna at first. xD But then I thought better of it and that Sora would be a better pick for it instead.
Asuna- Snivy
Sora- Pikachu
Kirito- Sneasel
Donald- Psyduck
Goofy- Turtwig
Yui- Ralts

I would have thought you would have Kirito as a Weavile, as Sneasile (the pre-evolved form of Weavile) seems more of a feminine looking Pokemon than what would suit him.
Or you could have had him as an Absol, Zoroark or even a Shiny Bisharp or it's pre-evolved form in shiny style.
Asuna I would have made her either a Gardevoir or even it's secondary pre-volution Kirlia, or A Shiny Grovyle.
Sora I would have made a Sandslash as the quilled back seems to fit with his hairstyle or an Aipom for its cheerful and friendly nature matching his personality.
Donald I find amusing and funny as a Psyduck.
Goofy I would have had him as a Manectrick or its pre-volution Electrike.

I wanted first level Pokemon for the team to start out as.
I was thinking of Houndour for Kirito, but I thought Sneasel as a better look for Kirito instead. Besides, have you seen Kirito in his GGO look? That's feminine.
Asuna is fast and agile, just like a Snivy. I took into account of that part of Asuna instead. Besides, Yui is the Ralts because Ralts can detect the emotions of people, and Yui is a MHCP.
Sora is the main character of Kingdom Hearts. Pikachu is the main Pokemon in the series. I just decided that Sora would fit the part for that.
And as for Goofy, he has always been a turtle in the Pride Lands or Atlantica. I wanted to find a suitable first-level Pokemon that is a turtle, and a Turtwig works.
