After seeing this comparison done by I wanted to render something using the Monte Carlo renderer myself. But even with some tips from I wasn't able to render something in reasonable time and on top of that when I lowered the depth to 1 as suggested by Jorge some black stripe appeared on the sphere which wasn't in the MB3D default renderer.I know I've chosen wrong combination for MC render as it was really taking long (one step in the MC render took 2 and something days...
That's the end of the story so now you know why I wasn't that much active in last days

Ok, 37,6 years of rendering later... First hat off to your patience, Jan! I would have given up after 1 day ( I think... ) And, say what you want, the light is absolutely fantastic and almost photorealistic!

I didn't meant to lower the depth I said that in DEcombinate the sphereIFS just needs 1 iteration! In your case setting the Maxits hybrid part1 to 1 you would have gained much render speed and rendered it in "normal" times. The Depth in the Lightning window is certainly sometimes related to gain some speed, but it is not always so. Sorry if you have misunderstood, no pun intended, just tried to help you a bit

Oh, man, I feel so stupid Reading your message now I think you meant to lower the depth of reflection to 1 and not the rays depth in MC... Why there should be so many depth options in MB3D Thank for the iterations suggestion I see I thought you meant to formula iterations which I always use 1 for the Sphere. For some reason I've overlooked this part in the settings So I'm going to give it one last try and if it will not render in less than 24 hours I move to something else

No, no ray depth from MC I never touch it. Just the sphere iteration to 1. This was the main cause for being slow

It really helps. First step that took before 2 days was now rendered in less than 3 hours! But there is still the black stripe on the sphere and I don't see that much difference in lightning results in this case so I will not wait for the next update and try something else. Thanks a lot again!
