Now this is something I'm SUPER pumped about. Star Wars was such an inspiration to me as a kid and I remember thinking time and time again "I wish I could do Star Wars art!". Well, whaddaya know. I get to do Star Wars art! Fantasy Flight Games is releasing their new Star Wars living card game soon and a couple of my cards were spoiled at the previews at GenCon. The first card I did for the game was none other than Darth Vader. I'm really humbled that my art director felt comfortable enough giving me the task to create art for the most badass sci-fi villain of all time. Rarely do we get to see Vader dealing with rebel scum in such a direct way, so I'm sure you can imagine how giddy I was when I got the initial prompt.Image Β©Lucasfilm, LTD and Fantasy Flight Games

Β Very few have escaped Vader's wrath. These poor bastards aren't one of them. Wonder if one of them said something in jest to put him in such as foul mood, such as calling him "that traitor Palpatine's lapdog".
Β Those two are probably the lucky ones. The guy struggling for his breath: he might pass out, and be taken prisoner, because the Empire likes prisoners. But prisoners don't like the Empire.

Oh. Wow. This managed to bring back a little of the fear I had of Darth Vader when I was a kid watching Star Wars for the first time. I just...wow. Kudos. Β

Thank you very much! Yeah, it actually kind of bums me out that I just don't feel much terror when I see Darth Vader anymore. Maybe it's because he's so much more of a tragic character now than just a purely evil one. Or maybe it's because I'm not 5 years old anymore hahaha.

I ask myself the same thing all the time. Honestly, I think it's a bit of both. That and growing older has endeared me to the villains. The world just isn't black and white like it used to be. :sigh:

I love that Vader is chopping one dude's arm off, deflecting a blaster bolt back at another, while telekinetically choking the life out of a third. I wish there was scene like this in one of the movies, it would'v shown just how much of a badass Vader really is. Excellent work

Haha thank you very much! I'm actually really glad that all those different actions read the way they're meant to. I think this is really the kind of thing I wanted to see in Episode III. I mean, I understand that Anakin needed to be Darth Vader before he gets his suit. But it made me sad that even when he's rampaging through the Jedi temple, we don't get to see any of the action. No 3 on 1 fights or anything. Just some younglings and a lot of crying hahaha.
