"It is your destiny! Join me, and together, we can rule the galaxy as father and daughter! Come with me. It is the only way."
Wait... what was I thinking!Β

"WELP, I guess I gotta go back to bat country soon. Oh hey, I still have like 98 illegitimate daughters, right? I'll just put the smartest one on the throne and call it a day. #1 Dad in all of Yeld. Yup!" Sorry, couldn't help myself. XD
But in all seriousness, this is an intriguing development. I'm really interested to see where this goes.

Come to think of it, why is he the prince anyway? There doesn't seem to be a king or queen already.

He's the Prince of Vampires (which is probably not a real thing?) and regent of Yeld. He seized power after the Old king died and tried to marry the Princess, but she absconded during the night and eventually led an insurgency against him (which is where the term Oathbreaker comes from). So there hasn't been a real king or queen in Yeld for 1000 years.Β

I remembered some stuff about that from before, I just wasn't sure why he couldn't call himself king even after all this time. Now I wonder how Modest could be queen if neither of her parents have a claim to the throne.

Yeah, its not clear why the Prince thinks she has a legitimate claim.

Historically speaking, the most legitimate claim is brought upon the point of a sword.

Thats true At this point Dragul has been ruling for over 1000 years. Thats probably as legitimate as you can get. But he's never taken an official title.Β

You gotta be a real dick to make up your own title, the best titles are ones you get given. Nobody respects a dude who goes around calling himself "The Scourge of the North", but if people start callingΒ you that, then you know you've made it.

Uh huh. Dragul has had a few titles in his time in Yeld. It'll be interesting to see where the "Vampires Prince" title actually comes from, and why he never took the crown and became King.

I only started reading this series from about twenty strips ago, the art style engaged me so I've been reading from there. Are you only the artist and not the writer, or do you just have fun playing along like you're not in charge of the story?

I'm both the artist and the writer. I often say things like "We'll see where this goes." or "It'll be interesting to learn what his motivations are." because even though I have a general plot planned out my writing style allows me to change and adapt as the story goes, and often in the process of writing I'll discover something new I'd never considered, or some idea will fill my head to push me in a new direction.

I can respect that. Having characters that begin to take on a life of their own is a sign of a gifted writer.
Explains why I was drawn to your work. Started out as just 'hey, cute snekgirl' and then I was drawn into the world you've begun to paint.

That... does not sound like good news.
Does this tie in to the Arsenal of Winter?
