I photographed this park a few times during a once (or apparently twice) in a lifetime event. Once in May of 2017 when the entire park flooded due to record breaking high water levels, heavy rains and inadequate storm water management. Couple these problems with high winds creating large waves and the results are evident within this photo. I am am no engineer or landscape architect but being familiar with this park, I understood how the water management systems worked. The park has two small creeks that lead out toward lake Ontario and when the water levels are high enough and waves large enough they would rush up through the mouth of the creek raising the water level until it flooded its banks into the surrounding park. This was the main cause of the flooding and why it was so much worse at this park compared to other parks within the town.

This photo was taken in April of 2018 during the second major flooding event that I had noticed within the park. This one was not as bad as the year before and only affected the area surrounding one of the creeks.

While the flooding looks extensive (and it was) the water had completely drained within 48 hours of the event taking place.

The town is currently redesigning one of the creeks within the park to hopefully mitigate these types of occurrences in the future.
