The painting? I scanned into photoshop one of my pencil sketches and the built up the colour, textures and layers there.

so you start with a paper sketch? I start with roughly a 5-10 shape sketch in photoshop and build every thing on top of that.

This is just unbelievably elegant. It's in design of just what I've been desiring to have as concept work behind my story that I'm writing. Simply put, this is absolutely brilliant. The idea of the spine-like assembly running the back of this operator seat gives the feel that the operator and this system become as one when in control.
