Description
Seriously, all you people on the internet criticizing X-Play for their poor review of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII are pathetic. You like Final Fantasy games. You bought this one and obviously enjoyed it. The majority of game reviewers seemed to enjoy it too. What do you care what X-Play thinks? In any case, even if you are reviewing a good game, even the slightest amount of criticism is healthy. If you automatically write off any game as flawless then the developers won't see any incentive to improve their product. They'll just throw whatever crap they can at you because they think you'll buy anything. And that's clearly what Square Enix is doing with their Final Fantasy spin-offs.
On that, let me say for the record that any and all Final Fantasy spin-offs are garbage, for the simple reason that every Final Fantasy is supposed to be a contained story and are designed as such. Making a spin-off to extend it is pointless and a clear grab to just make more money than a quality game.
Final Fantasy X-2 was pretty much a game where the goal was to undo the ending of it's predecessor.
Final Fantasy: Advent Children's plot can be summed up like this: "Sephiroth??? I thought you were dead!...No? Oh, okay, let's fight!" Seriously, if the movie had just been the fight scene between Cloud and Sephiroth at the end would anything have been lost?
Fans defend games like Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, and movies like Advent Children saying they answer the questions all the fans have had. What answers did Dirge of Cerberus provide for you? All I remember was a game that seemed to play itself so it could get through the story...it's pointless, boring, insipid story.
If you aren't willing to criticize crap games like this, then you deserve them. Have fun playing...or not.

Nah. If there is any one who likes the game, that means the game is good.
Main point of a game is to amuse, and i enjou them.
I don't care what Final Fantasy sequels do with story, i just love to play Final Fantasy, because EVERY FINAL FANTASY IS A MASTERPIECE

i agree with the thing about giving some criticism. I mean, i made an english paper and expected it to be bashed so i know that i can improve it... i wasn't bashed and i was confused and well, i asked someone else to bash it for me..
anyway, i loved crisis core but yeah, it was mostly fight, do missions and blah blah blah. they could've made it into a movie and it would be the same.
as for making extended versions of final fantasy, I apologize but i cant fully understand how you feel because im not a hardcore fan (i didn't even play one game and finished it before crisis core) XP if i was, i think i'd feel exactly the same way.
forgive the lame analogy but i think the closest i could probably come to feeling the same way you feel is when i found out that they made a hunchback of Notre dame 2. Seriously, they just murdered the first awesome movie with that sucky extension D8<
anyway, i love it when people point things out like this... sometimes the fangirls can get annoying because they will murder you if you bash cloud or whoever as if you've insulted their mothers. i mean, im a fangirl but i don't go crazy like that because everyone has their own opinions, right?
hehe, here i am going on and on. I'll submit this now before i start talking about light and darkness and NOT stop talking XD

Not true and besides. Compare the graphics and another thing.... Don't tell me you were ok with not seeing their faces... Seriously... And Crisis Core is just adding more characters into the mix because there could be another FF7 game out there after all

I actually really don't understand fans that need to have their fandom validated by other people. Seriously, if something is enjoyable, than it's enjoyable.
Point well made, good sir.

So, which is MORE pathetic?
Someone obsessed with a video game or someone trying to convince someone not to be obsessed with a video game?

To be honest I kinda wish AC WAS the final fight from FF7 in CG form.

People have a problem with it because the review was so poor it was really outrageous. The points they made about it being bad... weren't ones that were an different from any other action RPG that they may have loved. The controls were fine, the battles are no easier than the ones in any Zelda game and the dialouge was standard RPG. It especially kind of "what the hell?" because many other game raters gave it really good reviews and it didn't seem like Xplay went beyond the first chapter.
That being said there are also reasons why people shouldn't be so upset about it.
1. Adam Sesslar reviewed it. I doubt they write their own reviews but even so... Adam Sesslar is known for hating Final Fantasy. Why the hell would you wanna listen to him?
2. G4 as well as all it's shows have gone down the crapper anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if they purposely gave it a bad review (then did the second April Fools review) just to create publicity.
3. Sometimes game companies offer money for good reviews, or reviewers offer to give a good review for money. I don't know if Square Enix practices this, (and even if they do, I doubt they would spend extra money for an FF7 game, it already has a well established fan base) but it's possible that Xplay wanted to be paid and Square wouldn't. And since they couldn't just no review a high profile game like Crisis Core, they gave it a poor review. It's also possible Square just didn't pay them even without them asking so they just threw together a piece of crap review.

i'm not going to tell you you're wrong, but i am going to politely disagree.
1. Adam Sessler, while not enjoying the recent FF's, has gone on record saying that his favorite RPG is Final Fantasy VI (happens to be my favorite too. I still have my original SNES copy). He's also said he hates people who claim Final Fantasy is perfect in every way, what I just criticized in this comic.
2. If they wanted to create publicity they would've given a bad review to Final Fantasy XII, a much bigger console title that would sell way more. But they gave that game a 5 out of 5, criticizing only the license system which most other reviewers didn't like either.
3. On that, they've given glowing reviews to 4 out of the last 7 FF games and an average score to another one. The only ones that got poor scores were the spin-off titles (DoC, CC, and Chocobo Tales).
Controversy is never good. It's always negative. Sure it gets more attention but that doesn't mean you benefit from it. This probably just confirms people's feelings on X-Play have had for a while anyway (probably why they're releasing such venom). So what did they have to gain?

Though I will admit you have valid points about the quality of FF spin-offs.

Plus the clips they showed were only the first few hours of the game.

I think you're missing the point that the reviewers didn't even try to be fair to the game. The points they made were barely valid,if they were valid at all. You can expect any JRPG to be ripped to shred for the most stupid reasons if they're reviewing it. Heck, if a person hated all JRPGs except one, they would still call that person an idiot. And these pages help prove my point.

i hate ff7. let me just say that, and to hear someone else mock it ahh~ so good. i didnt hate it originally- i thought it was eh, ok. but the absolutely rabid fan base freaked me out so much that i cant even stand it any more- seriously.
and i think its -painfully- obvious to everyone except these rabid fans that all these spin-offs are just being made to make the company business, its not a well thought out ending to the individual characters stories or anything its just an 'o gosh we didnt finish vincent... ummm... here lets say this happens and make bank! huzzah!'
