I live in upstate New York, on the Pennsylvania line about 150 miles south east from Albany. Β These Buffaloes were being kept on and escaped from Β a farm in Castleton NY on the east side of the Hudson about 15 miles south of Albany. Β Before this drama began, these 15 Buffalo swam the relatively wide Hudson River to the east shore, and roamed over the Β New York State Thruway (I-87) and several other two lane highways before they reached Bethlehem NY. Β At that point, the authorities, because they claimed they had no way to corral the skittish animals, declared them a public safety hazard and allowed the owners to shoot down all 15 of the animals when they had gathered near a creek where they became easy prey due to the landscape.
I realize these are large, wild animals, and I really question why these animals were being kept at this farm when their natural tendencies are to seek the wild, which they were doing. Β I had really hoped there could have been someway to keep them confined and moved to a safe area rather than destroying them. Β But, that was not to be, and it has virtually wounded my heart. Β

Oh, that's funny...same thing happened to me when I went to Yellowstone except said creature was weaving back and forth on the yellow line, in the dead center of the road. I think it knew it was holding up traffic, too. The fiend.

yea later on in the trip three male buffalo walked over a crosswalk and instead of backing off people were walking up to them taking pics and they started charging everyone. it was really scary but fortunately no one got hurt, although I kinda wish some of those idiots did
