Description
I'm probably going to get lambasted by Spike fans for this one, but I think the Fool is one of the most important cards in the Tarot.Certain interpretations believe that the Fool is the character who journeys through the rest of the Major Arcana, learning from each, until he finally reaches enlightenment at the end. In old morality plays and again in Shakespeare, the Fool stands apart from the rest of the actors and is thus able to objectively judge them. In spreads, the Fool can indicate misjudgment unless it is in the presence of good cards.
We see this all the time in the show. Spike is, in a way, our proxy. We find ourselves able to laugh at the antics of the other ponies because Spike is capable of laughing at them ("Bridle Gossip", "Winter Wrap-Up", etc.). He is also a child and continually makes poor choices when the Mane Six is otherwise preoccupied.

Why would a Spike fan be mad? That just means he's going to be the main protagonist of a Persona game.

I'm a Spike fan, and I'm certainly not going to lambast you for this. Especially since the card is very well drawn.
I just find it Ironic since Spike is usually considered Twilight's voice of reason. I think Pinkie would've fit the card more, if we're going by stereotype. But Spike is the character who most finds enlightenment in the end of his stories, Dragonquest being the most obvious one.

i will also say that it's only ironic, if you believe that Spike is a voice of reason. i rather think the Twilight IS reason (or rather Prudence, which is a life led by reason). her problem is when she over-analyzes, well, everything. Spike exists then to provide the uncomplicated, "innocent" solution. and as an innocent, he is perfectly suited to play the Fool, so to speak.

That's the problem though. She gets wrapped up in her own head or concerns so its up to Spike to pull her back down to earth. Therefore, he serves as a voice of reason to her while she is everyone else's logical center. She is more of logic and rationality than reason.
I will agree with you there, he is the innocent one. Offering a simple perspective to things, that's partly why I like Spike.

i'm saving Pinkie for another card. i'd argue that while Pinkie is a jester, she's not a Fool. certainly we can use multiple characters for multiple cards (i've seen Derpy used for this one, but that's not quite fair), but i'm trying to also not reuse characters. this narrows my choices and interpretations, but i think the set will be all the richer for it.

Usually Jester and Fool were synonymous in Medieval courts. But if you've got a card in mind I don't have a issue.

the distinction historically is this: the jester was a satirist, clever, cunning and talented. the fool was a simpleton. the difference is in delivering a punchline and being a punchline.
this may have been the original personage portrayed by the card. but it has come to mean something more. an innocent, an empty vessel, a child to be taught - Spike embodies all of these things in a way none of the other characters in the show's canon do.

I guess in that logic.
