Description
I mentioned yesterday that I was trying to convert Tyria from G2F to G8F. Today, I tried out [Tutorial] Transferring Character Morphs G1G2G3G8The first version of this workflow came from Kattey on the DAZ forum, for which I acknowledge credit. Here is that (lengthy) thread: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewthread/24093/
First of all, however: there are two ways to recreate a character. There is the easy way, which is not redistributable, and the hard way, which is. We'll discuss the easy way first. I'm sorry, but I can't do anything for those of you who absolutely can't learn from text. This is what I have time for right now.

PART 1: CREATE A SINGLE DIAL
Load Genesis 1. Dial in your character morph. There cannot be anything in the scene except the single figure while we do this. No hair, no clothes, no props. Or if they are there, you must hide them by clicking the eye next to them in the Scene tab.
Go to Parameters-General-Mesh Resolution. You should always have a Parameters tab. If you don't, you aren't ready for this tutorial because you are still, and with some finangling and following further instructions in the comments, I got it to work. Sort of. Her eyes move in the opposite directions they're supposed to, despite my attempts to fix that with the bone adjustments. In fact, I realized I messed up somewhere and made this conversion even worse when I tried fixing the eyes, because her fingers get messed up when I move them (they worked fine in my first successful conversion). Heck, I need to take this whole thing back to formula and make a G2F version with human ears, because with Tyria as one slider, I can't adjust the hair for the ears alone.
Anyway, lotta tech talk.

I have a quite simple and effective way to transfer V4/M4 characters into G8 characters and I think it could work even better with older Genesis to G8.
I need to make some additional tests but I want to do a tutorial if it works out well.

I've never tried G2 direct to G8. You may want an intermediate step of converting her to G3 first, and I'd recommend Darkhound's converter (available here on DA). The big problem is the difference between the G2F and G3/8F base facial shapes. If you used a figure underneath (like Victoria 6 or Lilith 6) the difference is more marked. The more primitive mesh of the G3/8 is going to show that. Hence, why I recommend a converter. That will capture the full sculpt and detail of G2, transfer it directly to G3, and from there you can transfer it easily to G8.
The eye issue may be a DAZ glitch. If you used Joint Editor (and check Z rotation because it isn't), and applied ERC freeze, then it's that eye wonk that gets into the figures from time to time. It was horrible in V7 when she came out. My Ms. Amazing was converted from G2 to G3 and her eyes cross when I use side to side. I have no idea why. There is a fix for it, but I can't find that DAZ forum thread now.
But as far as the way she looks, she looks fantastic.

I actually tried again after posting this and got it to work, and then again on a G2M to G8M. Everything works properly now, though I've noticed the fingers bend more with the preset hand poses than the G3. I need to check the base G8F/M to see if that's just a quirk of this generation.
The eyes are working, too. I had to do the Joint Editor tool twice, once for everything but the eyes (including eyelid and squint morphs), then just the eyes. SickleYield mentioned she's brought up the glitch to Daz, but they haven't fixed it, so at least there's that workaround.
As far as the conversions themselves, I'm finding that they're close enough for my needs. Janus G8M lost a lot of his muscle definition in the conversion, but G8M has morphs to fix that. I noticed both he and Tyria got a little taller, too.

Good! The fingers may be a DAZ glitch. Trent has mentioned some finger bending issues with my single slider G8F Aura, although they don't show up on my end. We have the same morphs, too. But I'm using Studio 4.10 because of 4.11's slowness and 4.12's hair shadow issue.
Usually, if the character is for me, I only convert the face. Bodies are easy to resculpt from scratch. G8's sculpting systems and morphs are better than G3's, and G3's are vastly superior to G2's. But that face. It's critical to keep the character looking the same as the original, or at least close enough for jazz and hand grenades.

she does look a lot closer. You might try asking Nathanomir about the process, I know he's been able to successfully transfer a G3 to G8
