Rider: "You know Alloy...you remind me so much of your father. It's a bit scary at times."

Alloy: "But...mom, me and dad are nothing alike. Everyone thinks that."

Rider: "Hm, just trust me Alloy. You are a lot like him. Never doubt that. You are your father's son..."

Alloy: "Mom? Why are you crying?"

Rider: "No reason...don't worry about it..."

Backstory:

As is common knowledge to my obsessed fans, Rider is married to Nether Storm.
But I have dropped hints for awhile now that Alloy and Nether Storm are a bit at odds. Neither look much alike, their personalities are constantly at odds with each other, their races are completely different, etc.

Well...
The bomb on this is that Nether Storm (Despite caring very much for him and practically raising him) is NOT Alloy's father.

STORY TIME!! (Note this is all a WIP things may and will change)

Many years ago after the loss of their first child Aurora, Nether Storm and Rider had a falling out, although they never divorced they separated physically to deal with their emotions.
Rider became heavily focused in her job as a solider and began to take on more and more dangerous tasks.

One of which was where she led a group of trained soldiers on a mission to hunt down rogue spellcasters accused of practicing dark magic. She and Nether Storm talked before hand and agreed to work out their relationship when she got back (This is important)

Long story short the mission backfired since they were heavily out numbered and easily captured.
Over several months they were separated and interrogated for information on the guard to figure out how they work and take over.
Eventually all that were left were Rider and a bat pony medic named Reyn.
Both were kept alive due to their usefulness (I.e Rider as a hostage and Reyn because he could mend the wounds of his captors)

They grew close over time (mostly because they were desperate for someone to cling to at this point) and were at one point intimate since they felt they might as well enjoy each other before they die.
They were not in a "romantic" relation as much as one of good friends who needed each other at this point and time. But they did truly care for each other.

Unluckily for them help arrived a bit to late.
Reyn only moments before a team of armed guards arrived (led by Nether Storm ironically enough) had been brutally executed infront of Rider. Rider however lived through this and made a (mostly) full recovery.

Not long after she learned she was in fact pregnant.
She was unable to give the child up due to it being that of her friend's. She decided to keep the foal but had a hard time adjusting after what happened and was deemed unfit to care for it.

Nether Storm shockingly was very understanding and actually adopted the foal (Who she named Alloy Ryn) so that Rider wouldn't have to give him up.
He ended up raising him alone while Rider sought out therapy and treatment for the next 4 years.

UNTIL Alloy found pictures of Rider and started to ask questions about her.

What followed is that Nether Storm persistently tried to get Rider to talk to him again. Which led to him and her mending their relationship.
Alloy never held a grudge toward Rider not wanting to see him and loves her deeply. Although he is to this day blissfully ignorant of who his real father is and Nether Storm has never tipped him off otherwise.
