Description
I havn't done anything with Aeskhari in a very long time. So here he is along with my attempt at a new style Neo noir ( working with major dark mostly black and white with only a few actual colors.) I used pnecils, pen, and markers. The style effect was somewhat reached."Attempting to battle a darkness he barely understands, fighting outwardly and inwardly he clings to sanity while insanity engulfs him. Trying to be a hero to save a miserable bleak world that hates him..."
His double barrel shotgun , and the undead monsters suddenly make this look like a B movie.
I'm not really that satisfied with this. But please tell me what you think.
Full view is appreciated but not demanded.

Well he's never met any humans before. No one in his land has ever seen a human. There is religion believing they are angels. (Ascensionism) But I'm pretty sure if he met you he wouldn't even think of eating you. He's pretty reasonable.

He would probably quizzically ask what you where doingand then eat the sweets. I don't think he would be mad over food though.
Indeed you're right. the animals merely beleive this.

Viashalev is a grunt, A slightly more elite grunt (Remember; Paratrooper)
In a way you have to be quite colder to be a sniper, Imagine;
Your laying/crouched in a highpoint, you see someone and pull the trigger, You see them laying there writhing in pain while the others are hiding.

That makes sense as well. Just seems that Jack would much prefer to stay as far away as he could.

Okay that makes sense. So he is fairly balanced in most aspects.
Aeskhari has basic knowledge of most fire arms. Thought they are fairl new to his world. He also is decent shot with bow and arrows.

I love Chuck Norris! But if all charcters where like him the world would be boring. So I guess you're right. I cetainly like Jack this way.
Their fire arms are pretty primitive since it is a medival era like world. So arrows are usually quicker to fire, but rifles shoot farther and faster and will punch through armor.

HAHA! Well said! Yeah Chuck doesn't like copy cats!
That's why Aeskhari has many weaknesses.

I've seen the Lee-enfield in action, I actually live where it was made, all British Military guns are named 'Enfield' as they are made there, Edmonton is in the london borough of Enfield.
Its a lovely rifle i've been told, My grandad fired that and the M1 garand, and he preferred the enfield.

Indeed! Double barreled shotFUN. Aeskhari is skilled in rifles and pistols as well.l But the traditional sawed off side by side is his personal favorite. It's devastating close range capablities make it very useful for splattering the undead up close.

Again, I'll state that I think this is a rather successful experiment on your part. It's easy to tell that you're enjoying this, so it's a good thing. I'll have to admit, his posture is good (save for what ~Danilee3240 said about his foot, even if I understand you're experimenting with exaggerated features) and I especially like the angle on the shotgun.
The spattering of green blood on the tombstone closest to the viewer is a nice effect. Concerning constructive criticism about this piece, I would suggest trying out a facial view other than a side profile (difficult, I know, but it really makes things look dynamic in the long run). As well as this, the image isn't exceptionally well cropped; by cropping off the blurred/gray areas and the hole-punched area in the left corner, it will look more refined.
One thing I've heard a lot of artists suggest to others concerning colored pencils is to color in small circles, not in lines. This way, the viewer isn't concentrating on the line strokes, but rather a fluid continuation of color throughout the piece.
His tail is a bit awkwardly posed; at that angle, it would have to be broken (unless his tail is broken and it never healed right--at that point, you can disregard what I said). Making his tail bend at a softer angle would fix that problem.
Otherwise, I think you did a fantastic job. The blood on him really reflects the struggle he's going through.

Thank you, I think it turned out pretty decent myself. I am indeed enjoying this. Thanks the blood spatter effect just seemed to fit. As for the shotgun I was hopping it came out okay. It looks much more deadly when the viewer looks up the barrel. It's the last thing those monsters will see before... well yeah.
I know what you mean. Yes I have been trying to do his face from the front. It generally is very hard. Espcially since I'd need a 3D figure of him to work off of.
If you mean cropping him in the picture yes that needs work. If you mean the picture itself that's just the way it came out. But yes it needs work either way.
That makes sense. Except I'm experimenting with markers now because colored pencils just wouldn't cut it for me. But I'll keep that in mind for both though.
Hmm, I guess you're right. I always liked to think that he was that flexible. But I guess what you said makes sense. Hmm, I guess it might have been damaged at some point prior. It would make sense considering his childhood and that he has lots of situations like this.
Thank you again for you input and thoughts. Yes, I wanted to make him look dirty and bloody. He's probably hasn't been able to eaten in days or taken a bath in even less. The red blood is his own. Green blood splatters from monsters that were too close. ALot of the combat is at close quarters and very dangerous. If you look closely you can see slightly see green bloods festering his wounds. Hmm.
Thank you again for your thoughts on this.

Yeah, concerning the facial features, I usually look at wolf snouts to guide a lot of my feral features. There's a ridiculous amount of wolf images that you can reference off of and they're just the right kind of snout--not too thin like a fox, but not so big that it's like a bear-face. I won't lie, it is very difficult, but it's very much worth it to study them.
Like I said in the previous image, experimentation is good. Don't beat yourself up too too hard for it; it took me a good year to really feel confident about my style change to the point where I was consistent with it. Even now, though, I'm changing things up and trying new things out--to be static is to not improve, and to not improve...well, it's no fun!
