I hate Cheese.There, I said it and I'm glad. Cheese is the total antithesis of everything that makes "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends" great - he's stupid, oblivious, one-dimensional, poorly drawn, and his dialogue is insipid and shallow...and most significantly, he has never made me laugh. And yet somehow, he's managed to outshine everybody else on the show to become the most popular character - and he's only appeared in five episodes. How popular is he? Just look at the box art for the upcoming "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends: The Complete Season 2" DVD. I kid you not, this is the official artwork.

This is ridiculous. None of the other characters are even mentioned, let alone pictured. Cheese appears in ONE EPISODE in Season 2. By picking this up in your local Best Buy, you'd swear this was "The Cheese Show". Hence, this piece of fan art is my act of protest. I can only imagine that this is how the characters would most likely feel to know that this ugly little schmuck is slowly choking their show to death.

Yeah, it pisses me off that Cheese is the ONLY reason people watch the show in the first place. He's like what Urkel was to Family Matters...nobody gave a shit about the rest of the characters, they just cared about that one character.
He's an okay character, I don't HATE him, but still...

yeah they are using Cheese too much lately and he's not really a great character infact the only character worst then Cheese is Goofball John McGee.

Oh, you don't have to apologize - I don't blame the writers for Cheese's domination of the "Foster's" name. Cheese worked okay as a one-shot character in Season 2, and it would have been fine if he'd stayed that way. I really just blame the fans (and the Cartoon Network marketing department) who decided that he was the greatest thing to ever hit the show and turned him into a pop culture icon. What really bugs me is the fact that he's on all the shirts, the billboards, the TV spots, the DVD covers, that float in this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade...and there are so many other characters on the show who are more deserving of it all.

Viewers are morons. They tend to enjoy way too much simplicity and cheap jokes too often. Fred Fredburger is another popular CN character that is completely retarded. Perheps CN is just aiming for idiots. Most fans don't care about full, fledged personalities, only fanservicey stereotypes.

The float itself was dedicated to "Foster's" as a whole, but Cheese was the only character who spoke throughout the entire performance (he did a solo rendition of "Best Friend" by Queen).

I agree! I loved Cheese when he first debuted in "Mac Daddy", but then later, it just annoyed the heck out of me. ANYONE can make a character like Cheese, so he's pretty much unoriginal.
My top 5 favorite characters don't even count him OR Bloo, but if I had to choose, even Bloo is more deserving of attention then Cheese is.

i totally agree with you-the first episode i saw him he made me laugh but i never liked him-in fact he scared me...hes creepy and if i knew that thing in real life i would have pretty much done what bloo did. i adore wilt to death and he doesnt even get as much attention as cheese does and wilt happens to be one of the semi-lead characters...but nooooo-some yellow retard comes in and takes everything away from the other main characters. they even have more cheese accessories then any of the other characters in the stores that i go to! hes pissing me off and im tired of people repeating the things that he says! it just makes me hate him more and more-not sure if thats possible anymore at this point... -_-' thank you for making this-its good to know someone else greatly dislikes him as much as i do.

i never liked fosters because i hate blue's arrogance. I love Edwardo though. So i never watch the show that much. I only know Cheese from a preview of his premiere episode and he's on a tote bag a girl has at my school. it says "I LIKE CHOCOLATE MILK" and his GUZZLING a jug of, you guessed it, chocolate milk while having the facial expression similar to an orgasm's. it just doesn't fit so i hate that tote so much.
As for the art piece, cute, even fantastic. very close to the original artwork style and proves a point.
Cheese is only popular because "HE'S FUNNY" and "ZOMG SOO RANDOM" see? i only know this from a dis informational bag.

Why have I not seen this before? WHAT.
Anyway, this is awesome and amazing and I'm not coherent because it's late but it's incredibly well-drawn and though I have found Cheese to be funny in small doses, the fact that he is the focal point -- no, the only character -- on the Season 2 DVD box is MADNESS.
Also, Cheese's posture here kind of reminds me of Woodstock. From Peanuts.

I liked Cheese the first two or three times he showed up. But after that, he appeared as a troublesome brat, like in the ep where he "had to go".
I think he's good for a supporting character, but have him show up less often. Giving time to put more thought into his mindless dialogue, since that's pretty much what makes that character.
That, and maybe team him up with Goo when he shows. Her character's probably the best to carry him.
But yeah, I see where you're coming from with this, and I think the characters actually feel hatred towards him show-wise, anyways. So this picture's right on the dot. ^_^
Everyone should remember this:

My favorite characters are Franky and Goo, personally. I'd like to see some more eps that center around them.

I like Cheese: "Mac Daddy" was actually the show that got me re-interested in Foster's. XD But I do agree that most of his episodes after "Mac Daddy" portray him rather shallowly; if anything he's become this total retarded screaming thing that repeats any word he hears over and over. At least he showed some level of intelligence in his debut episode and his character actually had some use in "Infernal Slumber" (another of my favorites), but more than anything, he's somewhat annoying. See The Big Cheese and Cheese-a-Go-Go for info. XD
Personally I think it's what you've stated that you hate about him that makes him so "popular". It's precisely that. All the other characters can't stand him, and his popularity imho derives from watching how the other characters try (and mostly fail) to handle Cheese, mostly in funny situations. I died laughing at the go cart scene where they had to control the thing while going downhill XD But ah well to each his own I guess.
Drawing wise omg, they're all so mad at him, even Wilt! XD And Coco and Bloo both look so murderous omg ahahaha XDD
